Accueil chaleureux, en français. Les enfants ont promené des agneaux. Activité amusante à faire si vous êtes sur l'île.

A charming sheep farm that houses a wonderful shop filled with hand dyed wool in atleast 3 thicknesses and many colours. Sheep skins in craft grade as well as medical grade(improves circulation and temperature modulation), cute tshirts baring the Topsy Farms logo as well as many knitted products for bed and body.
We brought our own picnic lunch and ate it on the bench across from the farm, while enjoying the view of the mainland

Visiting Topsy Farms is like stepping back in time, a time of community, an oasis of peace but where there is always interesting activity. I love snuggling with and feeding the newborn lambs in the Spring, admiring the Highland Cows, Queen Cedar and Shy Willow and perhaps catching a glimpse of the guardian dogs, always on sheep duty. Walking the trails, sitting by the shoreline, and learning the history are just a few of the activities the Topsy family so generously offer. The Wool Shed is a treasure trove of incredible products from colourful knitting wool, to a wide assortment of blankets, throws, clothing and much more!

I am such a fan of Topsy Farms. I love their Wool Shed products. I love visiting the Highland cows, the guardian dogs and the sheep. I love the opportunity to have educational experiences, like observing in sheering season. I love that they now offer access to hike on a trail on the land.
But what I love best* the people that I've been lucky enough to chat with. Kindness, old fashioned connection, it reminds me of my Grandparents farm when I was a kid and I'm grateful that this environment still exists in the world.
If you haven't been to Topsy's, do it. Make the drive, take the ferry, visit the farm. You won't regret it.

What a wonderful morning spent at Topsy Farms, hiking along the bluffs led by a 1812 re-enactor, telling of a battle that took place within view of these actual bluffs! We met up with Sally, a co-owner of the farm at their campsite, a beautiful spot, telling stories of earlier days on the farm as a commune starting in the 70's. Sally had us captivated with her tales, her love of the land and the people that she shared it with. We made our way back to the store where I bought some yarn for a lovely toddler cable-knit sweater. I'll be back!
Truly an experience not to be forgotten.

If you haven’t had a chance to pay a visit to Topsy, plan one! So many educational and fun opportunities! Shearing with Kayleigh and snuggling foster lambs are unforgettable experiences. We have picked a few things up from the Wool Shed but most recently the king size mattress topper which we absolutely LOVE (also the slipper/shoe liners that are absolutely dreamy…especially in bare feet). Their daily journals on social media are positive, refreshing and educational. Learning about their ethical practices and how they process their wool carefully has converted us into wool lovers - Their products are beautiful, soft and cozy (NOT the scratchy, awful stuff!).

The most wonderful family - they care so deeply and passionately about not only their sheep, but about each other, their farm, the land, the environment, and teaching others what they know. They are so incredibly open and kind and giving and super cool, all at the same time. We have volunteered at Topsy Farms during a couple of their lambing seasons and have felt so blessed to have been a part of their community. Highly recommend you take the fun ferry ride across to the island and go visit. It's the perfect excursion for kids and grandparents alike.

Such a magical place, Amherst island. So quiet, friendly, close to nature and agriculture. Wonderful place to spend a weekend cycling on the island visiting topsy farms, maybe helping out on a sheep drive and picking up some blankets.

The blankets. Initially I thought they were too scratchy and warm. But they are so soft and actually breathable. They keep you warm when you need them, but help cool when you are too hot.
