Highly recommended! They have a unique selection of wines and a great atmosphere! We were fortunate to meet the owner of the winery, who is super friendly, kind and informative. The prices are very affordable and the portions are very generous, for food and wine. A little gem!

I enjoyed a great breakfast here on a way to a work meeting in East Saanich. On the way out, as I was paying, I noticed this extraordinary strawberry rhubarb pie. It is Mr. Buttercream’s favourite, so I bought it to take home with me. WHAT a great pie it has been (we’re still working on it). Fantastic pastry, and fresh fruit all the way through. I will never again travel the Saanich Peninsula without stopping in at The Roost!

Good food with a unique self-service concept!
We enjoyed our meal here overall. I had the smoked salmon benny and thought it was very good - well-prepared and flavorful. My wife ordered the cinnamon bun french toast, which she found to be average.
What makes this place unique is the ordering system - you place your order and then sit at your table, but you serve yourself everything else. It’s an interesting concept that works well for the casual atmosphere.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is a pleasant place to dine. What really caught my attention was their impressive selection of takeaway items. They offer everything from fresh pastries and pieces of pie to local balsamic vinegars, wines, and other specialty products - perfect if you want to take something home.
The combination of decent food, unique service style, and interesting retail options makes this a worthwhile stop. While not everything was exceptional, the overall experience was enjoyable.
4 stars - unique concept with good food and great takeaway options.

stopped in just to check the place out... was delightfully surprised by the gluten-free cake ball and Nordic seed bread!

Food: cream of mushroom soup tastes like thin white sauce. No flavour at all!
Service: none. Stood in line forever, a man approached them from the side counter and was served immediately. They didn’t take the time to clarify who is next in line.
After standing there for 10 minutes, we ordered our food and when payment was ready I was presented with a tip option.. So far there had been no food and no service
 So how do you tip?
Atmosphere: Pretty nonexistent, I would say. The people behind the counter were not engaging.
Four kids meals, a cup of soup and a quiche it was $107.00. Won’t be returning.

What a great breakfast spot. Make your traditional breakfast of eggs with meatloaf - yum. Not into a protein bust? Why not a cinnamon bun french toast. A great place for a morning eat if you are just off the ferry.

Amazing pastry’s! Need to stop place either leaving to the airport or first stop when you arrive.
We had the butter chicken samosa.
Sausage rolls, Cornish pastry, bee hive pasty and a classic Nanaimo Bar.
They have a unique bus dinning area which I thought was cool.

Food is good, above average. Staff are mid.. not super friendly and present as grumpy. Don’t bother tipping because you get your own food and are expected to return your dishes.

Food is good, expensive but good however McDonalds has better customer service.

PS: every time someone has an order ready, a pager goes off. There is continuous beeping while you try and enjoy your meal.
