Recently Michael Shedden was on my street about the neighbours dogs who had gotten out. I had turned into my street and saw him there with other neighbours standing around watching. I went to talk to Michael Shedden and his employer needs to know how good of a person/employee he is! He’s so professional yet empathetic!!! He was made for this job! It’s so nice to see someone in that position who does such a good job and also really cares any the animals!!! He’s such a hard worker which I really hope his employer sees this! He needs to be recognized. Any other employees I’ve met say the shelters absolutely do not compare to him! He really cares about the dogs!!! So with his amazing personality paired with truly caring - he’s EXCEPTIONAL in his position!! Niagara SPCA - he makes you guys look really good! Don’t let this employee ever go!! Absolutely outstanding human!!!!

Id like to express my disgust for the Niagara Falls location. Firstly, I went to book in my sisters kitty to be put down and once they ran my number they said I was not welcome there (I've only been there once with a friend over 10 years ago) and they weren't sure when the tech would be in because "she wants to go to the mall". Then it switched to "there's a note on file" they're not allowed to put any of our cats down and refused to inform us when the note was placed. I've never had an animal put down there, and I am kind of glad I went elsewhere after hearing horror stories from previous staff and clients.

For years I've had bylaw show up for vindictive anonymous email complaints from people that don't even reside in the same city. A city council member called them out on their harrassment for routinely showing up at my house for complaints of 20 something cats, abusing my dogs the list goes on. I have 6 cats and I was in compliance until they changed the bylaw and tried to enforce my cats. I took it to city council and got an excemption because you can't just change bylaws and expect everyone who was in compliance to comply. The city council member was disgusted at them. They're suppose to be in it for helping the animals not ripping them away from their homes.

Now we get into the rumours about me being spread around the humane society. Firstly all 3 of my dogs are taken care of as are my cats. Animal welfare has shown up a dozen times and they find nothing wrong every time. This is slander especially without proof. Not to mention making me rehome a service dog because I was one over the limit, who under the law cannot be held to pet limits or restrictions because they're medical equipment not pets. When I told them about this they said then rehome one of the senior dogs. Yes, that makes sense let's rehome a senior dog I've had for its whole life. Idiots.

Just like a staff member that was fired for stealing $500 from her place of work years ago, who can't seem to keep my name out of her mouth.

Staff members happily write exemptions for friends and family for over the limit/prohibited animals.

Hopefully my dogs never get out and picked up by the Niagara Humane Society, after reading previous reviews and hearing stories I dread to think of what could possibly happen to my animals.

Go elsewhere. St Catharines Humane was MUCH better than this cesspool that allows corruption to run rampant. Front staff needs to be retrained in how to properly speak with the public, Techs need to be properly scheduled, not booking appointments because a tech may go to the mall is disgusting and shows your absolute lack of care. Staff need to be held accountable. They must not pay well either because one of their bylaw officers lives in my housing complex ?

Maybe now that the Niagara Humane Society has a new Executive Director things will change but I'm not holding my breath.

Just a little note to say Thank you. We adopted Our baby boy "Moon" from you Feb.27/15. I am so glad we had the time with him. He was an older cat with a heart murmur and nobody wanted him. I DID. He gave us so much love and enjoyment. He was finally laid to rest on Feb. 4/2022. He is so greatly missed , but I just wanted to thank you for this opportunity to have him in our lives. We have his sister whom we also got from you "Smudge". She is still going strong but misses him terribly. Once again Thank you..

Tried to adopt a dog from here but the Niagara falls and Welland secretaries have poor attitudes and don't seem to want to adopt these dogs when someone asks simple questions they have big attitudes and get frustrated very quickly welland location actually hung up on me I was looking for a guardian dog she said the only guardian dog you can have is a great pyrenees I told her I've had a Rottweiler and Huskies act as guardian dogs she said no that's not right and she has a volunteer dog walker that knows more than me and's been there for 30 plus years I had asked her what other credentials this volunteer dog walker had had she said none other than working there and walking the dogs for 30 years I don't believe that place has been there for 30 years but okay very poor service I guess I will just take my money elsewhere it's no wonder they are overwhelmed with animals the way they treat people and the process they put them through

Useless. Have been in contact regarding foxes that have taken over our neighbourhood and killed multiple people's pets. Co-habitating with animals who make it impossible to be able to sit in your backyard is ridiculous.
