Love this place! Such kind and wonderful volunteers and staff😊 I was able to adopt 2 male guina pigs. Their names were Curry and Samosa, I changed them to River and Mr.Pickles. (Mr. Pickles is the black and white face one). They made sure that I had experience and knew what I was doing. They even threw in a free carrier for me, a hay bag for them and some food. Can't recommend this place enough!! Remember Adopt don't Shop!

I recently had an incredible experience at the Humane Society in Oshawa and just had to share! From the moment my sister in law Audrey and I walked in, we were greeted by such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is truly dedicated to the animals, and I can't say enough about Michelle, who went above and beyond in helping Audrey find her new furry friend.

Michelle was not only knowledgeable but incredibly kind and compassionate. She took the time to answer all our questions and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the entire adoption process. It was clear that she genuinely cares about the animals and their well-being.

Thanks to Michelle’s guidance and support, Audrey adopted Meme , the sweetest cat! She’s brought so much joy to Audrey’s life, and she couldn't be happier. The Humane Society provided us with all the information we needed to ensure a smooth transition for Meme into her new home.

If you’re considering adopting a pet, I highly recommend visiting the Humane Society in Oshawa. And if you're lucky enough to meet Michelle, you’re in for a wonderful experience! Thank you, Michelle, for helping Audrey find her perfect companion!

I went to this humane society to access their pet food bank as I'm on Disability and am having an issue with finances right now. And I appreciate this service very much and am very thankful for it.

VERY GOOD PEOPLE!

The staff at the Durham humane Society are amazing! They are very thorough and friendly with their interviews with prospective adopters and I was so pleased to adopt my kitten and give him his forever happy home! I have named him Brady ( after my favourite NFL Football guy😂) and he is loving his new home! Thank you DHS!

I have been pretty wary of most shelters and have always gotten my dogs through word of mouth. I was very pleasantly surprise by this shelter. They were very friendly, supportive and caring towards the animals. They disclosed all info about the dog we were interested in including some of the negative behaviours which we appreciated. No surprises means more likely to keep the animal. We ended up adopting Oliver the dog and were very happy with the whole process. We love Ollie too!

The HSDR was absolutely incredible from the very first day we decided to adopt our boy, Finnegan (or Violet, while he was at the shelter!). We were given all the information we needed and went through an interview process to ensure we could give him the safest and happiest life possible, and once we were approved, we picked him up a few days later. We were given a care package with some Royal Canin food, and were told that if we had any questions or required any assistance to simply reach out. We left with a beautiful boy, feeling confident and comfortable. Needless to say, he is amazing. He came from a foster family who must have socialized him well and treated him like gold, as from the very first day he was brave, confident, and unbelievably affectionate. As you can see, he's settling in nicely. Thank you HSDR for all of the amazing work that you do!

Wonderful crew of folks that care deeply about the animals they have.

We adopted a small cat who has been through some rough times in the outside world. She was spayed and given patient loving care while at DHS. She is slowly getting accustomed to us, getting more and more playful and curious about her new world with us.

We went here as the Oshawa shelter had a respiratory outbreak and we were unable to view any cats to adopt.

The people who work here are so incredibly helpful and patient. They showed us available cats and we absolutely fell in love with a handsome orange boy.

The staff helped us with the adoption and setting up the food plan as well. Would highly recommend, and now we have a new handsome member of the family, Alastair!
