Ridiculously high property tax for the very small population and lack of services, amenities, and entertainment provided. The new water service fee starting this year 2024 $87.50 quarterly and is increasing over the next few years up to 300 percent. That's before you turn on the tap or flush the toilet.
The water rates, responsibilities, and assets are intertwined with the Federal Canadain Force Base 5 CDSB Gagetown.
The new water rates happened after putting up a dozen (and counting) or so new privately owned large apartment buildings. Also very expensive considering what the town has to offer.
All are owned by the same family.
But does those the 55 or so of those new apartment units in each of the 12 or so new apartment buildings paying their equal share?
Considering the towns reasoning for the new rates are due to new infrastructure, maintenance, and assets. Don't forget this is all also intertwined with the federal base, who also operates and maintains the water treatment plant with military and civilian employees who are paid by the federal government.

The Service charge on our water bill went from $37.00 to $87.50 on May 7th 2024 billing. It has now gone up to $112.50 on my Febuary 10th, 2025 bill for non drinkable water in the PMQs.
Shame on you for such a high increase. Another reason my family will not be purchasing a house in Oromocto. GREEDY

Are there people working on the water lines? My water has an odour, and is dark. If so, a letter or email should be sent out. Letting people know that it's going on.
