Say what you will about smaller airports but personally, I prefer them. My 8th time here. Security has never taken more than 5 minutes.

Not a whole lot of amenities/stores, but it does have all of the basics.

Rental parking is very close to the terminal.

There are only 3 gates so the waiting area is small.

Staff are always friendly.

Pretty good for a small airport in a somewhat remote area in Canada. It’s clean, organized, friendly security personnel, a small Robins donut and snack area, outlets for plugging in your phone can be found on some posts, and a huge window to see the planes and staff in operation.

They have art in the airport too - from sculpture to murals.

One of the best features for me was the Flybrary - a small section with gently used books encouraging travellers to take a book and return them when they fly back or replace with another book. Organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Library. This is such a neat and brilliant idea, I wish all the airports in Canada did the same.

There’s a little box compete with a red fire hydrant where pets can do their toilet needs! Cool!

For a smaller airport I would say they are doing a great job. Have never had a problem and the staff is always more than helpful. big up on the Robin's now after you pass through security.

Awesome experience at Deer lake airport.
Got to love these small airports with friendly people, respect and everything we need.
From parking availability, to very welcoming people (car rental, security, plane companies etc), such a pleasant place to be !
Security is on top as well, while friendly, I think I triggered all the possible detectors with my semi metallic belt 🙂 , yet, they handled it with respect and professionalism as well.

This is the most poorly organized airport I’ve ever been in. The people here are great but it’s so busy that you need to wait for an hour to drop bags. There are no self serve bag drop stations.
This place needs to be bigger with a lot more staff. It’s so loud that you cannot hear any announcements. Everyone shows up 2-1/2 bouts early to make the flight because it is known that it takes that long to get through the crowd.
Often times people that are scheduled later are ahead of you in the line which slows things down even more.
I do all I can to avoid this place.
