Allan Brooks Nature Centre - Vernon, British Columbia

I was invited by Teresa to do a guided tour of the Allan Brooks Nature Centre here in Vernon. I had a great time learning about the trails, the history, the grasslands, and the facility. We saw a few hawks and then went inside to see the black widow spider, the snake, and the turtles.

It is a very scenic area, and isn't as far from downtown as you would think.

The people working here are very passionate about the facility. They have international tourists, cadets, occasional musicians, and birthday parties.

It is the only place on the planet where you can see Okanagan Lake, Kal Lake, and Swan Lake simultaneously in one spot.

I highly recommend coming here.

I walked up to the nature centre while staying with friends. I didn't go in the building but walked around the paths and sat on a bench and enjoyed the stunning views. I will go back and take a look inside. I went in mid April 2023, everything is still brown. The season is late this year. I'd like to see it in the summer when things are growing so that I can see the plants they have identified. I did see a few Marmots!

Great little spot to stop. The staff were very knowledgeable and walked us through the exhibits. They showed us a turtle and snake. There was a lovely bee hive, taxidermy animals, and a fur display for petting. We enjoyed the nature walk, especially the info panels for the native plants. A great view of Vernon from here, too.

Great indoor area with plenty to see and do. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, plenty of seating and a small play area for kids. Definately worth visiting!

Not only is this nature centre an interesting and educational facility in a lovely setting with friendly and helpful staff, they also have a great sense of humour! All of their resident marmots were still hibernating February 2nd (Groundhog Day) and so, rather than disturb them for their weather prediction, they had a stuffy do the honours!

My son had his birthday there today and they did such an AMAZING job! John was super patient and organized with the kids. They had a great birthday set up with a banner and sign! My son and all his friends had so much fun, thank you for a great day!

What a treat! I was in town visiting the Caravan Farm Theatre and we decided to take a day trip to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. It was a lovely morning full of marmots, meadowlarks, hawks and more! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Highly reccomend a visit if you're in the area!

Very interactive center with lots to see and do. Terry was very welcoming and informative on a range of items throughout the center.

We had two young kids with us who loved it. In the future when we pass through we will be sure to stop by.
