Amica Arbutus Manor - 30 day respite care

We are so grateful to Amica Arbutus Manor for a 30 day respite care stay which we needed to provide a temporary home for my husband who has dementia and for myself while I had my emergency sinus surgery.
All the staff were always friendly and upbeat and communicated extremely well amongst themselves so anything we needed was addressed in a very kind and timely manner.
The dining room menus were wonderful and the options and variety outstanding. Just a lovely experience.
So a heartfelt "thank you" to all the staff and residents who made us feel very welcome.
One final mention goes to Nicole Watt, Community Relations Director, a good listener, who with kindness and compassion made our journey to Amica Arbutus Manor seamless and stress free.
We shall be forever grateful for such a positive experience.

After an unexpected hospital stay I I am so grateful that I found Amica Arbutus for a short respite stay that helped me gain back my strength and confidence. The staff at Amica Arbutus were incredibly helpful, professional and made you feel cared about and right at home. The facility is very well managed from the general manager on down and they are all extremely
accommodating, cheerful and the meals are well thought out and delicious. The residence is tailored to the needs of the community with endless activities, fun exercise sessions and beautiful courtyards. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Amica Arbutus to anyone!

We had our mum in Amica Arbutus for 11 months and cannot say enough about the care and compassion that mum was given for the too short time she was there. The food was amazing and she loved it. The atmosphere was calm and tranquil and beautiful, especially the courtyard. From the wellness staff and care aids to the dining staff and entertainment crew to the admin, mum was treated with respect and dignity at every step. We are all going to miss her time at this beautiful home.

A very nice place. We have brought our mom here (93 y.o.) after a fall left her in need of more daily attention than we could give. She still had some mobility but just needed extra care an attention. The rooms are very nice, as are all the staff we met. Now after a short time there, this continues. They make her feel important and cared for. The meals are very good adn they certainly accept and cater to all the personal likes, wants and needs of each person.

Arbutus Manor Amica provided an effective respite during my post knee replacement surgery in October, 2023. It was an ideal solution to my care needs. I spent one month in the Wellness wing of Amica where nurses and caregivers were available to me around the clock as needed. The staff was considerate, competent and cheerful and responded to my needs promptly. Amica provided upon request some of the accessibility aides required for my recovery. The in house registered physiotherapist provided my rehabilitation onsite. The Amica mini gym and gentle fitness classes also contributed to my rapid and successful recovery. The meals were healthy, varied and of good quality, provided by tray while I was immobile and available in two dining rooms when I became mobile. During my stay at Amica, any concern that I expressed was immediately addressed.
Seven months ago, I had my first knee replacement surgery and chose to recover at home with the dedicated help of my spouse. My first knee surgery recovery, compared to my second recovery in Amica, was lengthier, more painful and was very challenging for my family. My husband and I are grateful that I was able to recover in Amica this time. The entire team made extraordinary efforts to endure that my family, including my kids and grandkids, felt completely welcome and at home at Amica. I highly recommend this short term recovery option for anyone requiring post surgery assistance.

I take this opportunity just to extend my deepest gratitude following the best experience I had during my practicum work experience. The Resident Care Partner at Amica Manor really changed my life. They had been nice trainers to me.They showed me all necessary skills required to provide an excellent care for seniors living to remain independent, comfortable and secure all the time. So once more thank you so much for the Team led at that time by Orlando Trinos.I greatly remember Kring kring, RCP who is very courageous and many others who tirelessly trained me to become a successful health care assistant until today. My Mother-in-Law was an Amica Arbutus resident for about eight years. My husband Ric and I visited every Wednesday, doing her laundry, visiting and having a deluxe dinner. We got to know many of the excellent staff and residents, we were always greeted warmly with friendly smiles and comments like oh, it must by Wednesday! Over the years we were also able to enjoy many of the special events organized by the staff. To our Mom, Amica was simply home, filled with loving family. We lost Dorothy in early March last year just before the Covid lock down, we did have time to all say our goodbyes to her in the hospital, and remarked at her incredible timing.

I just returned home after five weeks post-surgery respite stay at Amica. I was impressed by the thoughtfulness and caring of all the Amica staff as well as the scrumptious meals and snacks. Espresso and cookies in the Bistro are especially memorable. Thank you, Amica. James Mackenzie
