First of all I’m a very shy independent single mother of 3 and get embarrassed easily when it comes to reaching out with assistance for food ..:
The stuff is amazing they are understanding friendly people and make you feel good comfortable about getting some help
I have been using the Barrie food bank off and on now for 10 years . I love the option to shop yourself or they shop for you
You can go once a month(28days) and they also have every day in the morning program where you can go get bread and alittle other stuff. (Very helpful)
The front desk lady is very nice and all the intake workers as well they also will help you in other situations one lady helped me with budgeting my finances with rent bills and groceries and figure out extra money to do activities with kids .
I could go on forever about the Barrie food bank but like I mentioned earlier they are all amazing people GOD BLESS

I was here in regards to volunteering with Little Free pantries. There are now 7 around the city. We have one at The Salvation Army on Lillian. This is a good initiative, to have the food in local neighborhoods where needed. They have good volunteer engagement.

I haven't used this resource, but my sons have. I went through with one of them, just to check it out.

I was very impressed with how well organized it was. The staff/volunteers are fantastic & helpful.

Front office people need to retire and get a new hobby, old man with glass that sits by the window didn't accept my goverment issued ID that states my place of address, he then told the manager I showed my driver s licence I Don't drive! Only bill I have is my phone bill and never once did I ever get a statement showing address on it, he slandered and said I was being rude, but when he said he was getting his supervisor I just said I was leaving, I do not recall being rude what so ever, I live alone and not working on a fixed income, it's my canadian right to use the food bank when I need too, they put newcomer on my yellow slip to use the food bank, I was born and raised in Toronto ontario I can even show my birth certificate the way the man treated me today was unacceptable, I will be making a direct complaint to Karen the board of directors

Barrie Food Bank is an essential and compassionate resource for the community. The staff and volunteers are incredibly kind, respectful, and organized, treating everyone with dignity and care. The process is efficient, and they offer a good variety of food and basic necessities to those in need. It’s clear that they truly care about the well-being of the people they serve. If you’re looking to support a meaningful cause in Barrie, this is definitely a place worth donating to or volunteering at. A true example of community support in action.

Wow. I am extremely impressed by the speed of which the process went. Even with a full building everything moved along smoothly and was super accessible.
The staff is beyond friendly which is a breath of fresh air. And they just overall are willing to help out and make the process easy and almost completely stress free.

Since I’ve started going to the food bank, I feel good because the volunteers make me feel good.
Every month they say Hi. and they show they care about the people who shop there.
