As everybody knows, the SPCA is a place for people that love animals. This particular location has a staff that goes above and beyond the call.

They handle everything from introducing you to a wonderful new companion and in the sad times that companions pass away.

They also have a cremation option for your loved one that is done off-site. To me, this was a wonderful option and I was not aware that this was available to people.

We got our wonderful and beautiful puppy from this SPCA. The staff were very lovely, helpful and great with communication. They were also very generous with the supplies for our new furry family member and continue to provide any support we could need.
Thank you Burnaby SPCA!

Amazing service! The lady (sorry, I forgot her name) truly understood our cat’s needs. She went above and beyond to help us, even finding free vet services for one of our family members. On top of that, she waived the cost of vet shots for our cat & exchanged our carrier for a bigger one. We’re so grateful for her kindness and support! Highly recommend. Thank you!

Just wanted to thank you for letting us bring Bobby in to our lives! He was the white cat with CH, since he's moved in he's become so much more confident and all around such a great addition to our family. Thanks for helping make it happen!

Pretty brutal experience. All I want to do is volunteer my time, and dog training experience to help shelter dogs with basic obedience and leash skills.

Easy right? Just volunteer... nope the vetting process is extraordinarily cumbersome. Way too much information required, but ok, no entries, spend 45 minutes on your cell, maybe better on a laptop? Slightly.

The major issue is they insist you "apply" at a specific SPCA location, or at best ypur application hoes yo 2 sites if say, they're both in Burnaby.

I'd travel anywhere, so I hate being restricted to 1 or 2 sites. The SPCA needs to vet people on a regional vasis, so ANY dog can receive help at ANY location.

Volunteering should not be this hard!

I'm a regular donor to the BCSPCA because I'm an animal lover and I know they do good work from their media exposure. However, I had a very negative personal experience upon a visit to the Burnaby location. I dropped off 2 portable crates that my dogs had outgrown and then inquired about viewing the dogs at their location as I was thinking about adding another member to our "pack". I was there during the viewing hours and being the only person there, I thought it would be no problem. However, the woman at the counter said "we don't want to bother our dogs" but you can view the cats. She was rude and dismissive of my inquiry. Comments like this turn away the very people who want and have the means to help. This experience has pushed me to look at other animal charities that have a grateful attitude.

We recently went to the shelter to look at some puppies that were up for adoption and met a sweet dog named bear. All the staff were very friendly knowledgeable and welcoming. Highly recommend this location if you are looking for your furever friend

I went to this location on Thursday, December 12 afternoon to drop off some donations for pets in their care....ie blankets, towels, etc. I decided to go to this location because it was close to where I was running errands, but I absolutely regret my choice.

Upon pulling into the parking lot a blonde middle aged lady looked out the door, as if I shouldn't be there. She unlocked the door and seemed perturbed I was there. There was another older woman at the computer who didn't even look or acknowledge my existence. When I explained that I had some great items to donate, they both just said "we don't want towels" but when I asked about blankets or a puzzle/toy for the dogs, they said "yep, we'll take that." I tried to soften their demeanour by saying that my dog just died and I'd really like to pass the items on to another pet that could use it. It was useless to bring that up...they barely acknowledged what I said. They pointed to a plastic bin outside the door to put all the items in. No "thank you" or "goodbye" and locked the door quickly behind me. If it weren't for pets in need at the SPCA, I would have drove off with the items still in hand. I thought kindness, compassion and empathy would be the basic principles of any SPCA staff but it is far from what I experienced today.
