Our food container was returned with more food left over than normal/ expected - it was clearly marked with quantity/ feeding instructions, but it was weirdly "full" when we picked our dog up from the kennel. I have to wonder if he had all his meals. He also seemed a bit out of sorts for a few days. I know a lot of folks say they like the kennel, but this is not for us and we won't be returning. I'm also curious as to why the owners don't reply on reviews - if they really cared, maybe they would have commented.

For the last couple of years, we've brought our now 14 year old border terrier to Bekkers when heading south during the winter. It's not something we like doing, but we've come to trust the folks here to take good care of the little guy. In fact, when we picked him up after a month this year, he seemed more robust than when we dropped him off! And it was obvious he'd developed a bond with the lady who had been caring for him... It's definitely a good sign! A definite recommendation.

Do not take your dog here. My dog stayed here for the weekend and came back reeking of urine, and extremely thirsty!!!!!! was squealing of thirst when we picked him up and didn’t seem like he had been let out to go to the bathroom either. When we asked how our dog was through the weekend, owner was extremely vague and just said “he was ok”. We’ve taken our dog here multiple times and were told we would receive pictures of him via the facebook group and never once have we seen our dog in any photos EVER. please save your money, and your dog and take them elsewhere. will NEVER be coming back here.

If you are planning on boarding a cat I would go elsewhere. I cannot attest to the dog boarding as I only brought my cat here.
I don't believe anyone who works here understands the importance of customer service; I am not looking for an above and beyond experience, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the lack of support, transparency or feedback. Before I brought my cat in I had called the kennel to get a better feel for whether bringing my sweet, shy cat to boarding would be a good idea. I have never done this before. The kennel attendant (she never told me her name) seemed a little upset that I had called at what I assume was a bad time? Although it was during posted open hours. She just told me she had worked with cats for 45 years. Ok...
My cat was checked in Friday morning and we picked her up Sunday evening. There is a tight and short drop off/pick up window that puts a lot of pressure into the process. The check in was entirely too laissez-faire for my liking. You fill out a little tiny piece of paper and that's it. The kennel smelled a little funky and you could hear dogs barking not too far away. There was a large parrot at the entrance that screeched so extremely loud, I could already tell my cat was going to have a hard time with that. When I picked her up, again there was no feedback, no friendly banter. The process was entirely too transactional. I had a bad feeling all weekend about leaving my cat at this facility. On the car ride home she was visibly stressed. I don't believe she ate all weekend as she felt very light. When we brought her home and I gave her a meal she ate it as though she was starving.

I'm disappointed I have to write this poor review but I needed to share my experience.

My family’s dog came back reeking of urine. She was trembling the first couple of days back home. The mistreatment is obvious, our dog was traumatized. Do NOT take your dog here. The owners seem to hate their lives and their jobs and are taking it out on innocent animals. I’m absolutely disgusted. These people should not be around animals, let alone left alone with them.

tldr; witnessed violent animal abuse

I've been taking my dog here for over 10 years. After picking them up today, I took my dog for a walk around the back and saw a female staff member (owner's wife maybe) maniacally screaming at a dog who refused to go inside. Immediately after she dragged the dog inside by its leash, I heard very loud yelping from said dog once she had closed the door behind her.

She came back out and saw me, then told me to not walk my dog around that area because of coyotes.

I don't doubt any of the comments claiming that they mistreat the animals.

So sad to write this as I was hoping to find a good kennel closer to home for our dog From the lagging email communication to when I checked in (only check in time is between 8 and 10 am) and was checked with the owner who appeared to be quite put off that I was there. Another reviewer mentioned he was cold... that was an understatement.
What bothered me more is that when I picked my dog up (only pick up timr is from 4-5) I was told my guy urinated in his crate the previous night, and they hadn't time to wash his bedding (he hadn't had an accident in his crate wine he was 6 mos old, he's now a year and a half) Oh, this was after a really snarky reply to my request to pick him up a tad earlier than 4.
I'll never use this kennel again.

My dog has been on a super extended stay due to life happenings and Club Bekkers has been taking amazing care of my boy. I visited and he was so happy and bouncy and excited to be around his caretaker. She expressed affection for him that I could see was returned. Thank you for your understanding and care during this hard time, Club Bekkers.
