Absolutely terrible store. The manager Jen is an absolute horrible person to deal with. Won’t listen to anything anybody says. Always snarky no matter how nice you are to her. The store is either out of things or extremely high priced, Often I’ve walked in and it’s filthy dirty with produce all over the floor- I try and avoid the store like the plague and try and shop in Duncan, whenever I can, unfortunately, sometimes you have to go in there when it’s the only store in town! The staff seem friendly, but the manager is absolutely nasty! It’s not a very nice atmosphere-

I am fairly new to Lake Cowichan and find Country Grocers a great place to shop. Their customer service is excellent. Im on a budget, so usually only shop sales but find their prices very reasonable. A few products I love they don't carry but not the end of the world. Thank You Country Grocers.

We ordered 3 sandwich platters to feed 30 over the long August weekend. Amidst the chaos of the weekend and Sunfest, the deli folks we dealt with were outstanding, extremely friendly.....and the sandwiches were excellent.

We were having guests for dinner Aug.3 so we saw there would be local corn on the cob at CG Lake Cowichan. We so look forward to the local corn each year. However this batch was awful. So tough to chew and flavorless we thought it might be silage corn. Threw it all out. So disappointing.

This is the most frustrating grocery store I've experienced. We drive to Duncan once a week for groceries just to avoid this store. They clearly don't care about reviews because people have repeatedly complained about the prices and the lines. We have turned around multiple times after just walking in and seeing the lines because you know you'll be waiting in line forever. WHY is there even self checkouts when they are always off? I feel like they are just there to make people angry because they are ALWAYS turned off! The return process is glacial and outdated to say the least. If you go to other grocery stores they just scan it and it's done, but at this grocery store they have forms you and they have to fill out. Everyone in the lines looks miserable because of the waiting. Avoid it if you can cause even if you're just getting an apple you'll be waiting forever. This town really caters to tourists now and the grocery store feels similar, it's like they don't care about the people living here, they just jack up the prices.

As for things that are actually good about the store that get lost in the frustration of everything else... The little cafe is the best thing this store has going for it in my opinion. The sandwiches are amazing, the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are the best I've had, idk if they're made there or not but whoever came up with the recipe is awesome. The supplement section is pretty good and the flowers are nice but they do, indeed, die very fast sometimes.

Such a shame to see all the US products on the shelves. I live in Lake Cowichan but now my family and 4 of our neighbours take turns driving to CG Nanaimo to do a shop for all. Nanaimo CG have removed US products and that’s a business that deserves our support! So nice to be able to grab produce without checking to see if they’re from the US!
