This place has an excellent selection of raw food for both cats and dogs and an honorary system where you purchase so many and you get a product free (raw foods). It has everything else you could possibly think of, and the prices aren't terrible. Rating only 4 stars because there are certain staff members who are not very helpful or offer assistance when it seems to be in need of it the most (usually the younger ones). There are a few women in there who are super awesome!

Excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Rebranded and under new ownership. Oodyoos is a term of endearment used by the owners within their family. The store is currently being revamped with a new aquarium wall which should be complete by November. The family has plans to kick off a one-year birthday celebration in early March 2023. They have plenty of animals and supplies onsite. Open daily.

They have things the other pet stores may lack, I normally check once in a while for something new and interesting, the staff are fun to talk to, the play area for dogs is something I appreciate.

Upset that new ownership have made changes that do not seem in the best interest of customers, staff and most importantly, PETS! The reason I choose to shop at owner-operated stores is because they genuinely care about providing the best products for my pets. That's what made me interested in this establishment in the first place. Under new ownership, I see no reason to visit this store. I understand that they have been treating staff pretty poorly as well and that is not something I can support. I will need to find a new place to shop for when I visit the island and need to grab some essentials. Also, WHO GETS RID OF PET CHARITY INTIATIVES? Shame on the new owners!

seems like there have been some major changes at the pet store recently, long term staff leaving or being fired (as told to me by the few employees that still work there). losing coastal raw dog food which was a staple at the store and one of the only reasons i shopped there because you can’t get it anywhere else. bringing in brands that don’t fit in with the rest of the store (hills science diet, royal canin, and blue buffalo). no longer participating in charity work, the old owners Erika and Travis has partnered with multiple non-profits in the cowichan valley and a % of profits were donated to these organizations when patrons gave their codes at checkout. the few times i’ve seen the new owners in the store they don’t really seem to care about their employees or customers. the old owners would jump in to help if things got busy, these people will go interrupt an employee mid conversation and tell them to go help someone else. super unprofessional. one time an employee was getting fish for me, and the lady owner walked up to the woman getting my fish and told her to stop and go help at the till. she was very polite telling her that she was helping me first and would be up at the till as soon as she could. i swear i heard this lady owner SCOFF at the woman getting my fish as she walked away. they can’t be bothered to have conversations with their customers and hear any feedback from them. i tried asking them about why coastal raw was no longer being carried and i was told it was a “business decision” but i know lots of people still bought that food and it was a great way to get people onto raw dog food who were interested in trying it. the staff are so kind and helpful, they’re very thorough asking questions to really get to the bottom of what might be causing an issue in my dog or fish tank and they always give me multiple options to choose from to help fix the problem. staff are very knowledgeable and they really do care about their customers. we often get free treats from them when we bring our dog in. it’s gonna be really hard to stop being a patron of the store after everything that’s happened. the staff don’t seem happy with the new ownership and from what little i’ve experienced i don’t blame them.
