Celia was a pleasure to speak with in arranging a tour; excellent customer service and efficient response time in communication. Ben was extremely knowledgeable, creating a captivating and informative experience for our private tour. Tasting an assortment of their carefully curated wild preserved foods was a phenomenal addition to complete our tour-You must try their jellies and pickled goods! Their deep rooted passion for the wilderness and all it provides was awe inspiring! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience as a family and would highly recommend their tours.

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience with Ben and all the keen people interested in learning about foraging. The focus was on mushrooms which was awesome as it is so hard to safely and confidently identify the vast variety of mushrooms on the island. Additionally, it was awesome to learn a bit about the history and econmics surrounding wild food systems, such as with mushroom harvesting. I also really appreciated the respect that Ben showed to Indigenous people and the traditional food systems that have been here prior to colonization. I would happily attend future classes and highly recommend these sessions to people of all levels of foraging experience. My final note of gratitude, is for the generous food and drinks shared by Ben and his team! Miigwech!

It was a pleasure to do the Fall mushroom foraging tour with Ben this weekend. Each season the forest offers different food and the key to learn it, is to do a guided tour in the forest with Forest for Dinner. Don't miss it next season; the guided tour fill quickly!

I really enjoyed the foraging tour offer by Forest for Dinner last Sunday. Ben and Celia were very knowledgeable and generous with sharing their experience and educating the participants about what can be found in the our local forest . I would recommend this tour to anyone who would like the learn more about what is edible in the forest and I am looking for to do other tours at other time of the year with them in the future . They also produce delicious products that we were able to taste at the end of the tour. Well Done

I was absolutely delighted to have “foraged” out this wondrous husband & wife team business, with its inspiring focus on the amazing bounty of foods & learning the surrounds offer.
I was told about the products offered by Forest For Dinner (FfD) by a fellow forager, Pablo, who is the night star cheffer at Barkley Cafe in Ucluelet, who then kindly went on to facilitate me buying four jars of jellies & jams from FfD. Pablo is an ardent fan of good quality ingredients, a good number of which he forages from the surrounding forests of this west coast ocean village locale. Thank you Pablo.
I was smitten with what FfD has on offer & I plan having bought the jars of jellies & jams for my son for his upcoming birthday, to take my family on one of the tours it offers of the forests, where it teaches the wonders of foraging.
They occur through the year. There are ones in all the seasons. I want to certainly do ones in Spring, Summer, & Fall. There is also a gourmet tour I wish to attend.
They cost around 75$ a person depending on age etc.
My four jellies & jams cost me 55$, & all are just so mouthwatering to even hear about.
Ben & Celia both hail from France & both have been foraging most of their lives, starting out in the French Alps. Lucky for us on the west coast, they immigrated to Canada in 2012, & started FfD in 2015. Ben also has a Masters degree in the field.
The Den in Ucluelet also stocks some of FfD products, also offering the most gracious of service, as well as delivery certain days.

I very much recommend the foraging tour and the products they sell! I did the fall mushroom foraging tour with Ben; he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The tour was very informative and I feel that I learned a lot about how to forage safely and how to identify a few types of mushrooms. The food tasting afterwards was delicious and the tea and coffee were also amazing! Looking forward to the spring tour!! 🙂
