Bunch of liars and two faced staff. I was places in fresh start in order to be able to keep my son. Within 2 weeks apparently "i did not fit in/staff felt this wasn't a program for me". At 4 weeks old, 4 lbs 2 oz and an issue with feeding and digestion to boot, one incident that was very concerning for me was when manny threw after feeding my son ( I specifically was told by his dr NOT to feed him again if he does throw up as Manny was so little he would burn more calories then he would get if I did feed him right after throwing up) staff tried to make me feed him again, I refused due to what HIS DR had told me. Staff used this as a mark against me, so that was either my first or second out of the 3 warnings you get before they call cas and have your baby apprehend ( not telling you why your going to the meeting room with them and a HUGE smirk on their face to top it off, also after promising me they would tell me id they did place a call to cas). I was also trying to breast feed therefore every 2 hrs (manny was on a VERY strict to the minute schedule), well one of the rules for someone new is within the first 2 weeks of being there you MUST leave your baby there if or when you go out. Sorry but with me having to go to London every Friday (not driving or having anyone help or offer for me to get there, even though I had to sign in for bail or be charged with breech and arrested) and it being a 30 or so minute drive and manny sometimes having to eat during that time, also idc if staff are trained and record checked or mother Theresa, I just moved in and am not leaving my baby with strangers, especially when also being told by Dr since manny was 10 weeks early he's technically still behind in are not actually a month yet and to NOT participate in "tummy time" again, manny would burn more calories then he would attain from his feeding and staff WAS aware of this, meanwhile the ONE time I did leave manny there I came back and guess what, on of the staf had decided to have manny participate in this anyways DIRECTLY disobeying drs orders, into of that if an emergency came up id be out of town and not there for him. Well fresh start did NOT like that what so ever. S theres another warning 2\3. 3 times I had tripped over the foam matts they had on the floor in the living room, after almost landing on my 4 lb preemie I had had enough as I had asked all 3 times to remove the matt and they did not, so I threatened to call a lawyer and that I didn't feel safe as staff dis not seem to care about the well being of me OR my baby. That was one of my warnings as well, that I was using intimidation and threats against staff, well I wasn't threatening I did call a lawyer and I did NOT feel safe, staff there are sneaky, 2 faced and do not follow drs orders putting my baby at risk. There is ALIT more I could add to this nut ill save it for court. Manny was apprehended April 25th 2017 and already back in my care october 2017. Manny is now a 4" 3 inch tall and thriving boy and is STILL TO THIS DAY IN MY CARE WITHOUT ANY OTHER APPREHENSIONS. Sadly while IN foster care (due to me being kicked out of fresh start he was apprehended even though there was NO parenting issues) at 3 months old manny suffered 2nd or 3rd degree burn as the doster mother had "spilt" hot tea on him WTH!!! Unfortunately due to being taken away from me and abused in foster care (there was other incidents of abuser but what could cas do when the foster parents had already adopted his sister, take them away nope that would look horrible on their end) manny now has SEVERE special needs, suffers from a severe attachment disorder and post trauma anxiety, stress, a behavioral disorder, SEVERE adhd (so bad he was diagnosed at 2 it was so bad) SPD, ODD and MANY other diagnosis. Hope your proud fresh start you have caused this hard and upside down life for my son, and i hope your proud of yourself as you did a great job on that.

My son Mason and I stayed at Fresh start for a few great months. Upon moving there I was completely taken out of my comfort zone. Moving to a place I did not know, with people I did not know. I was having very bad anxiety my first few days, but the staff were so welcoming, supportive and would always lend a listening ear. You were always encouraged to try new things, like going to programs outside of Fresh Start. Staff made sure to always communicate with you when it came to anything that involved you. They helped you stay on track so you could achieve your long term goals. Even tho our stay at Fresh start was short, I did learn a lot about not only myself but my son and being a mother as well. I knew I was a different person walking out of Fresh start, but I changed for the better. I am now more confident in all my choices in life and most of all I am confident in being the best Mom I can be for my son.
Today Mason is a happy, playful and smart little guy. He starting saying a few words like "Dada", "Mama" &"Yeah". He loves story time, bath time and cuddling up with Mom and Dad. I am so proud of the little man he is becoming.
I can honestly say if it wasn't for Fresh Start I would not be the Mom I am today. I am so greatful for programs just like Fresh Start!

Great organization who loves to help mothers and their children. They have the best staff who help you in anyway they can. They teach you important life lessons like cooking, cleaning and how to take care of your children. They offer great supports like healthy babies healthy children, a doctor who makes house call. They help you get your OSSD and encourage you to take your education further. Overall a great place if your struggling to keep your child and need a safe place to start over.

Fresh Start is exactly as it is named! It is a fresh start for young moms who need the help and independance to make it in this difficult world. Fresh start gave me the chance to have a safe home provided with everything me and my son could ever need and be able to be worry free. I had the chance to step back and focus completely on my son and I. I was able yo attend amamzing in home abd out of home classes for him and I. I was able to attend schooling to further my education with the help of the staff with my son while i attended classes. They taught me to cook and clean and how to balance my son while i did this without being stressed. They were able to help in all day to day activities from bathtime, tummy time to bedtime and are there 24/7 to help with all my awkward questions (the poops ahah). This place saved my son and I and now we have our own 2 bedroom and i have all the tools i need to continue on to be the best parent i can be. I am so greatful to the staff and home for the amazing chance o had.

A family member of mine wanted to go through this process hoping to regain parental rights to her unborn child as an alternative option to CAS. After calling Fresh Start to express her interest in the program and the urgency of her situation, First Start let her know that there was in fact a spot available in their program, and then gifted us with the first part of the application papers to fill. My family member, who was then 6 weeks shy of her delivery date, spent the next week and a half faxing & filling out paperwork, attending phone interviews, and contacting Fresh Start with updates, and so did her caseworker. So today, when we called them with yet another update that we had completed the second half of the application process, and were ready to book a tour of the facility, we were quite shocked when RUDELY told that there wasnt any spots available! When asked why no one was made aware of this change, or was even given forewarning that the spot was in jeopardy (as we were under false pretences that our seat was secure) they again rudely let us know that it wasn't their job to call us with updates. After expressing our frustration as politely as we could in the face of this devistating news, the receptionist then accused us of pointing fingers and proceeded to say that our family would not be a good fit for the program as she didn't like our attitude. Highly unprofessional and should find another line of work if not qualified to handle the emotions of a new mother who may lose her child simply because no one could be bothered to call.
