Chris quoted on doing a simple deck resurfacing job. He was vague on his labour charge which I clarified verbally instead of in writing...mistake. Chris and his crew did sub standard work, damaged my property and kept changing agreed job plans without consulting me. The quality of the work was very poor, as was the crews skill and efficiency ( what was to be a three day job stretched into two months). Chris refused to honor his estimate on both materials and labour ( charging over a hundred percent more than initially agreed) with no warning or discussion. When I pushed back , he walked, leaving the job unfinished. Within 36 Hours he put us into collection. I disputed the debt and in the end paid more than the work was worth. I should have checked reviews online before hiring Chris Griffin. An expensive lesson. Stay away!

I highly recommend griffin Landscaping for their exceptional landscaping services. Last year, we engaged their services for regular yard maintenance and flower bed cleanup. Despite my initial reservations about outsourcing these tasks, griffin Landscaping proved to be professional, punctual, and easy to work with from the outset. Griffin Landscaping offered us the best quote. It was really refreshing to work with a landscaper who gave honest advice and didn’t try to rip us off.
They also accommodated our last minute appointment request.

Just don't use Chris or Griffin Landscaping. This is what reviews are for. BEWARE. A friend of mine/neighbor referred me to Chris, so I was shocked when things turned drastically and he could care less how bad it would look. I received a $6k estimate to plant trees and other plants that I picked out (roughly $1k in costs) where the other 5k would go towards labour to manicure my property (clean up garden beds, weeds, remove old plants, leaf blowing, trimming etc). They made two mistakes- planting incorrect $3000 trees instead of the $400 worth of trees that I selected, and they spent 5 labourers at 25 hours on my patio instead of the estimated "1 person with a power washer and 8 hours". I watched one guy on camera with a leaf blower, blowing absolutely nothing for an hour, on the empty back side of my house. There were obvious piles of leaves that needed clean up in the yard area. They admitted to the mistakes and "apologized", but offered no reasonable solution, just argument that my property is large and should cost more. They removed the incorrect trees messily, and left the job. Chris himself wouldn't speak to me, he sent his wife. She apologized that they went over budget, and asked me for more money to finish. I offered to pay a 10% variance in the 6k estimate so $6600 to finish, but she basically wanted a blank cheque to cover "whatever it might end up being" and potentially 4k. She was extremely rude and threatened to take me to court if I fire them. I fired them. They sent me an arbitrary bill for 10k and sent the bill to collections. They didn't consider the deposit I paid on the bill. It affected my credit score. They billed me for the trees they *removed* and for unfinished work. Chris also made this obnoxious comment prior to starting the work "I don't show up to job sites, I'm not a labourer. If you want me to supervise it's $150 per hour". I was concerned that proper direction wouldn't be given to his staff because he was about to vacation. He said he trusts his guys. When he brought his manager over to show him what to do, it was raining-- so I saw them do a quick run around and obviously instructions were missed. They left a mess for me.

Bottom line: just don't do it. Don't do it, even if your best friend refers them. Look at the other reviews below, notice the ones that indicate rude, incompetent, thieves. Do yourself a favour and move on.

Extra work load to trim down our overgrown bushes besides cutting our lawn is really appreciated. That shows they care about your garden and their professionalism and that alone worth 5 star rating. The stone work done to our driveway was so nice I posted to our friends to show off.

I am so happy with my new outdoor oasis! Griffin Landscaping re-did my backyard landscaping with brand new garden beds, easy maintenance plants/shrubs/flowers, new patio stone and a complete spring clean up. I can't wait to host my summer BBQs and show off my new yard. I will definitely be using Griffin Landscaping for regular maintenance also. Communication was clear, schedule was ontime and no hidden fees. Highly recommend!
