“You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who can do nothing for them or to them.”
It was a rainy day and we were cycling from Haines Junction to Whitehorse. At some point we thought about stopping for a quick snack, so we pulled up on the side of the road, a little bit up the driveway. However, still far away from the entrance to the ranch and leaving enough space if a vehicle wanted to pass. After some 10 minutes, a guy in a tractor came down from the ranch and just told us in a very derogative manner that “this is not a campground” (we were just eating something while standing next to our bikes) and told us to leave.
We posed no threat in any moment and were not obstructing any operation on the ranch in any way; yet this is how this person decided to treat us. Which tells a lot.
