Good location for a walk. A bit disappointed though, for a Japanese garden I would have expected it to be much better maintained. Perhaps this was due to visiting during the summer in the off-season, but the plants and pond seemed quite overgrown and poorly kept. Unfortunately we weren't able to visit the adjacent building either since it was closed.

The neighbouring Italian Garden outside the Hatley Castle was much more impressive, I highly reccomend checking that out too if you're in the area.

Nice Japanese garden next to Hartley Castle. The best part is that it is free and easy to access.

One of my favorite gardens. In this oh so temperate climate, things began to pop up in February. The long spring brought surprises for months with both wildflowers, tended gardens, a charming pond and old growth trees. Plan to spend many hours... if you love gardens, you'll be happy you came. I loved the diversity of the rose gardens, more formal gardens and trails through the forest. What a treat.

You have to see and experience this free to the public garden to believe it. Amazing in the spring, summer and fall. Great place for family photos.
