Matt from MN. Bought a bear hunt at an online auction. First question I was asked is how many others can I bring. Price per additional hunters wasn’t honored, it was actually more than the listed hunt price. Met Peter in his home the day we arrived, the hunter I brought with asked if they could pay in cash or check? Peter didn’t bother to even look up just said Cash. That was the last we ever saw or heard from him. Free fishing as stated in the paperwork wasn’t honored. Tried charging additional 300 per day. Between 6 people in camp nobody had seen a bear after day 3 morning or evening sits. Baits hadn’t been touched and the bait being used wasn’t bought or freshened up. Cody’s exact quote was. “Peter doesn’t give me money to buy bait, so I dumpster dive”. They have trail cameras but don’t use them. “Unless something seems off”. Bait consisted of old sweets, dead beaver and some jam stuff Cody made. Questioned moving stands if the wind was wrong, Cody said I can move you if you want but I prefer to keep people in the same stand no
Matter the wind. They did state driving your own vehicle. What they forgot to say was your stand is 45 minutes plus each way from camp to your stand and you will have zero phone reception while hunting. The plan is if a hunter isn’t back by midnight then they start looking for you. You can shoot until 9 pm if you’re lucky. Accommodations were a modest bear camp, but it was warm and dry. Cody did the best he could with what he had. If you’re seriously considering this trip don’t expect much. Plan on buying expensive radios while there to communicate with your hunting party and figure in a few hundred bucks extra for fuel and car washes. Not at all what I expected. Left 2 full days early on a 5 day hunt, to try and salvage my time off. Kept being told we can’t beat the berries for food, Just Sit and be patient.

I recently went on a wolf hunt at KapRiver Outfitters with a group of friends, one of whom have been there previously. The overall experience of the wolf hunt was nothing like our friend described his previous hunt.

The trip started with poor communication that continued through the time of arrival and leaving. After arrival we were told there was no food available to us, when all meals were included in our purchase price of the hunt. The owner, Peter, accused one of our guys of not receiving the final payment when he paid in full prior to arrival.

Once we actually got to the hunting portion of the trip, we were met with nothing but equipment failure due to lack of simple maintenance. Snowmobiles ran out of fuel, tire on the trailer blew, back of a toboggan sled was ripped right off leaving our guys nothing to hold on to while going down the trail, a trailer hub and wheel fell off while in transit, the list of issues with equipment could drag on. Things break, accidents happen, but this was pure lack of responsibility.

Peter communicated to our group that we would be shooting down snowmobile trails and across gravel roadways from the location of our stands. After reading through the Ontario regulations to confirm our thoughts on this being illegal, it is. It is illegal and highly unsafe.

After three days of continued disaster and having to spend most of our hunting time waiting in the truck for Peter to locate and retrieve the bait we decided to call it quits and head home, two days early.

If you have money on a hunt here, I suggest you try to get it back. If you are looking to participate in a hunt here, please look elsewhere. Even if you don’t see a wolf, I can guarantee you will have a great time anywhere else but here. Read reviews prior to going on a hunt, we wish we would have!

Duck Hunters Beware!

If you win this in a raffle count it as a donation cause your trip won’t be what you expect (In a bad way)

The experience was awful! Peter is rude and was very disorganized. We were told that meals would be included and thank God we called the week before our trip because we were told that we needed to bring our own food.
When we arrived, the direction takes you in to town to his home. He then asks for our money up front and that’s about the last time we saw him. He gave us terrible direction to the actual place where you stay and once, we got there no one was there to great us other then the 3 guys from a different group that had been hunting for a few days already.
Once we settled in, we were told by the other hunters that Cody the ONLY GUIDE would be different than any guide we have met, and boy were they right. Nothing against they guy but he is not a duck hunter.
We didn’t get out of the camp till 6/6:30 and then we went to the gas station for no real reason other then he needed a coffee. After which it’s about a 20/30-minute pothole filled ride out to the landing (which you are following him in your own truck and can barely keep up, with the way he fly’s down the road). Once we finally get set up its well past daylight and the duck are on the feed. He drops you off and takes the boat to jump all the ducks up. So, then your sky busting ducks that want nothing to do with your lack of decoys (did I mention we had to bring our own decoys).

Also, these are all public spots
. There is no scouting and no service
. Can’t say much about the “Big game hunting” as we didn’t opt in for bear hunting but its much the same.

Take the loss and don’t go.

All I have to say is dont waste your time or money . It's a joke the way he does his hunts . I drove my truck for 7 hrs one day and 6 hrs the next total waste of time . We never even done a hunt just drove to check his baits.. He never set up any hunts was so rude I was ready to leave first day. Don't be surprised when your hunt is with 4 or more hunters . He doesn't set things up correct. I guess he is just to old and cranky now to care about a successful hunt. BEWARE

This was my first hinting trip. Peter and his staff Cody and Paul did a great job with guiding us all to the active duck and Grouse hunting sites. Most important the accommodations were exceptional with home cooked meals by his wife Terry. All her meals where homemade and delicious 😋. I highly recommend you giving them a call to book your next hunting experience. I score them 4.7 🌟

Horrible experience with this outfit. Purchased an archery guided spot and stalk bear hunt, but was provided with a guide who said to me on day 1, "I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know anything about spot and stalking bears." Guide lied about baits being hit when I switched to a tree stand hunt, no wifi at the lodge as promised, had to drive my own vehicle everywhere. Guide was literally zero help to me or the 7 other bear hunters in camp. Guide had never even personally bear hunted, let alone killed one. One guide was responsible for 8 bear hunters and 4 bird hunters. Was promised cut crop fields to stalk bears in, but there was only thick bush country where I could hunt. Bad energy in camp as other hunters were mislead about their hunts and lodging situation as well. DO NOT USE THIS OUTFIT.

Not what we expected, left after 3 days of a 5 day hunt to head back and enjoy some hunting in our home state to finish out our vacation. Out late to waterfowl hunt missing the prime time, not taken to really grouse hunt until day 3. Got some birds, but just wasn’t worth sticking around. Another group during the week was repeat customers from a few years past and said things had changed from their first experience. They left a day early also.

KapRiver Outfitters are great. They always get you on the animals, and give you clean plentiful accommodations at a good price. Cody is fantastic at all things involved.
