We had an amazing experience working with Stephanie from Master's in Field on our front yard landscaping. Last fall, we arranged a consultation with Stephanie regarding a backyard renovation. We were unsure what to expect, and Stephanie instantly put us at ease!
We needed to renovate because we had drainage issues, and wanted to replace our grassy backyard with a pollinator-friendly garden. We also wanted to update the electrical connections to our garage, to allow us to plug in an electric car sometime in the future.
Stephanie came on site to see the space and listened carefully to our ideas. We had a long list of preferred plants, including butterfly host plants and nectar sources, and shared some photos of gardens we liked.
She used all this information to develop three different garden designs for our consideration. Each one was detailed and thoughtful.
We ultimately chose a design that included flagstone paths and enlarged flower beds, with a circular wooden deck for lounging. We opted to use Stephanie as our general contractor to allow a seamless workflow on the garden.
Her quotes on the cost of the work were detailed. This allowed us to include some of the nice-to-haves, such as an irrigation system and garden lighting.
Work began on the date promised and all of Stephanie’s tradespeople (There were many involved: demolition/leveling, electrical, irrigation, decking, stonemasonry) were punctual, personable and professional. Work progressed quickly, and all hardscaping work was complete within 4 weeks.
The plant nursery experienced delays due to the cool spring, so we needed to wait one week for planting. Stephanie received the plant delivery and discovered a few of the plants were missing, which she chased for us. She planted everything, ensuring proper spacing of the plants, according to the plans. She provides a maintenance guide for the garden as well.
We now have the garden we dreamed of! We enjoyed the process of working on this garden with Stephanie, and would wholeheartedly recommend her work and her team!

I have very much enjoyed working alongside Stephanie, to plan out the design for my front garden. As I live in the UK, Stephanie (who resides in Canada), meticulously researched which plants, flowers and trees work best in the British climate. Stephanie has taken into consideration the seasons and weather, planning for interest in the beds, all year round. We hired Stephanie to refresh our backyard and we couldn’t be happier with the results! From the initial consultation, her passion for nature and creating beautiful spaces was very evident. Stephanie knows an incredible amount of detail about plants, and we learned so much from her! She was attentive to our vague needs and turned them into beautiful design options for us to choose from. She brought so many different perspectives and creative ideas that we did not think of. Stephanie focused on many aspects of the design including visual appeal, privacy, function, and the mood/feeling of our space. She transformed our space into something not only aesthetically pleasing but that was also easy for us to maintain. Stephanie used her connections and knowledge to get us the most beautiful plants. I started working with Stephanie when it came time to tackle my backyard landscaping. She made great recommendations for expanding my patio, the design for a wood fence and designing my garden beds. As well as recommending plants that were right for varied areas of a large yard, including ones that could grow under a neighbour’s black walnut tree. She worked with my contractor and her nursery to ensure all the plants were delivered on time and of great quality. Stephanie took the time to place them in the beds for installation. I was so pleased with how the backyard turned out that we worked together, the next year, on my front yard. I wanted perennials, fruit trees and shrubs but the focal point was a food garden. She completed digital design drawings submitted for a construction permit and took the time to recommend appropriate plants for the site to give the garden structure. Overall I will say Stephanie took the time to understand what I wanted, did tons of research, was very organized and made sure the projects were installed in the time I was hoping. My gardens have really come to life and I am so happy with how much food I'm able to grow for my family! I also receive complements daily about how pretty the front garden is too.
I wholeheartedly recommend Stephanie for your landscaping project.
