My favorite place for bbq meats!

One note... for some reason I didn't like their sausages when I tried them last year.

Great meat market, good quality meat .
I buy a turkey there every year and have never been disappointed.
The selection and service are good.
If you are not sure about how to cook it ask, they have a wealth of knowledge.
I enjoy buying a lot of my fruits and vegetables at this location. Great assortment of other neat items too.
Pricing for the fruits and vegetables are better priced than going to Costco and your not over buying and wasting.
I have even compared the pricing to no frills and the meat market is generally better priced and great quality.

I highly recommend this best kept secret with the residents of the area and others that drive a few more extra minutes out of their way to go to a good quality , clean market with helpful staff and butcher.

Save your money. Ribeye was chewy. As per the fast fry marinated steaks, think twice before buying. Very disappointing.

I've been to this place several times and have been very happy with their products. I shop around and have extensive experience smoking meats and cooking in general. I can tell good meat from not so good.

Monte's sells Mennonite meat and grass fed products. I have found the quality to be very good.

They also have a nice variety of grocery items which makes it very convenient.

My rule of thumb when writing reviews is to do so in order to help small businesses, and if I have an issue I will address it directly with the business itself. Only if their means of handling the situation falls short will I consider writing a negative review.

As a business owner myself, I understand the impact reviews have on a business one way or the other, and know how hard people like Ernesto work to bring the community great local shops that enhance the neighborhood.

I find it unfortunate that some of the negative reviews of this business were made without giving them the opportunity to address the issue.

I think it's quite shameful that some people feel the need to immediately out a business online, without giving them that opportunity. But that's the whiny entitled world we live in I guess.

Great new butcher shop and grocery store in the hood! We bought our fresh turkeys at Christmas from Montr's ar a fair and reasonable price and they had 22lb'ers!
Bought fresh sausages the thevother day...fresh...he'll ya they were making them all fresh loading the cabinet while I was there! We plan on grabbing some of their ribeye steaks real soon...yumm!

To all the small business owners out there selling your products to independent stores. Please do your due diligence and give credit apps to the stores before you sell into them.
Monte's has some invoice disputes online so at first we weren't sure if we should sell into them. But I generally think the best of humans and decided to give Monte's the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately it's been about 9 months now since we sold some products there and even gave him a demo on our expense. And he still refuses to pay. How does a business have no shame like that and just let small businesses not get paid. We have emailed over 20 times and have gone by numerous times to the store to ask for payment and he dodges all the time. If you're a business selling products into retailers DO NOT SELL here as you run the risk of never getting paid.

Beware.. as previous reviews have stated below, he does not pay his invoices and will make every excuse under the sun to not pay.

If you leave him a bad review he will go on about being a small business owner working 7 days a week to make ends meet, but will screw over other small businesses by not paying off invoices.

After moving from Madrid, Spain, I started hunting for a butcher shop where I could find the similar quality meats I used to buy from Madrid. My family loves to eat and my husband is a crazy foody.
I´ve tried and tested multiple places in Etobicoke and Toronto.
Montes premium meats remindes me of local gourmet stores in Madrid.
Montes Premium Meats are all grass fed from Ontario.
I feel safe feeding my family with meats, polutry and fish from Ernesto´s place.
Beef, pork, chicken, their homemade sausages, marinated meats, dry and cured meats, you name it, not a single time I was disappointed with the quality of their products.

They also have amazing pot pie filled with goodies, not like fake frozen ones sold in supermarkets, FRESH Fruit and Veggies, and incredible selections of sauces, herbs, homemade stocks(not homemade style but homemade)...I am forgetting something.
Their homemade turkey gravy for Thanksgiving turkey is another secret!
