STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They seemed really nice at first, but I had to chase them around every step of the way. In the end, they never finished the job and I eventually gave up trying to reach them. I despise nasty Google reviews, but I really don't want other people to get shafted. After reading the lastest reviews, it seems that this is now a common problem with Oakstead. I suspect they used to be reliable (perhaps when the father ran the business?) but that something has happened and they are unable to cope. Nice family, but completely unreliable and unprofessional.

It started with missing the first appointment for quoting me for a major bamboo removal project. They showed up for the rescheduled appointment and seemed very knowledgeable so unfortunately I decided to go with them. They eventually scheduled the work after a lot of effort and follow up on my behalf, but then they cancelled at the last minute, claiming that one of their guys had appendicitis. It took weeks of me calling, emailing and texting repeatedly before they finally came and removed the bamboo, which they did very well.

Before he did the job, Jon warned me that it would take a few follow up treatments over several years to properly get rid of the bamboo, but he reassured me in writing that he would take care of it as long as necessary. After another Herculean effort on my behalf to schedule it, he did the first follow up visit last year. This year, I sent emails, called repeatedly, texted and finally succeeded in scheduling another follow up. Once again, Jon didn't show up. When I eventually managed to reach Carli, she said Jon was tired because their child kept them up a lot after being vaccinated the day before. She assured me they would reschedule...again. Jon texted a few times about coming out on the weekend, and that was the last I heard from them. I have tried every method of contacting them to no avail. Complete silence. Don't make the mistake of hiring this company!

This was such a strange experience. Jon came to my house to assess and quote a couple of hedge plantings and some tree pruning. He was very friendly and helpful. However, I then called the office a week later to see how the quote was coming along and was told it was nearly ready and would be sent the following day. A week goes by and I email to see if I missed it and was told it was still a couple of days away. This happened two more times until this week, a month since Jon came to my house, when I messaged again ... and they didn't even respond (five days have passed). I was happy with the initial consultation and ready to pay but they just vanished. It wasn't very professional and wasted quite a bit of my time, not to mention a month delay for the hedge which may impact its success as we come closer to winter. Quite a disappointing experience as they started out strong but don't seem reliable.

Yours was a referral from a customer your company had . I called and a friendly voice answered and next the Arborist Jon was coming to assess.
It was prompt and after a examination of the property we decided on what needed to be done . Jon gave his advise and we agreed on price and on the day the crew arrived early. They worked well together as a team and were very obliging to bits of cuts that we see that bothered us and when all was done the property was clean and the atmosphere around changed.
Good people to work with . I totally recommend.

Oakstead’s Jon was knowledgeable, informative many garden plants and interested in doing the best pruning job possible on an old lilac hedge. He and his team were cheerful and overall did a great job and clean up.

Jon and his team did a wonderful job pruning and taking down trees on my Saanich property. I was a bit worried that the front cherry tree would look odd pruned back but Oakstead did a wonderful job of working with the shape of the tree and making it look natural.

My yard was immaculate when I got home from work, not a single branch or leaf was left where trees were taken down.

Jon was very personable and responsive in his communication with me. I really felt that he listened to my needs and provided services that exceed my expectations. I plan on hiring the Oakstead team again in the near future.

I am a senior living in a condo who found a small tree and a bush on my balcony had died and needed removal. Most tree removal services appear to be geared to removal of massive trees and I felt lucky to find Oakstead who provide gardening services as well. Their friendly service was prompt, efficient, and included clean up and disposal. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a similar service. Diane T.

Does anyone remember the excellent customer service in the late 1960’s, early ‘70’s when most small businesses went the extra mile to make sure the customer is satisfied? Well, Jon & his staff took me back to those good ol’ days by conducting themselves in just that fashion!

Twice I used their services, and both times they were friendly, professional, efficient & tidy. Jon answered all my concerns and questions from a vast knowledge base. And their prices were very reasonable.

If you are looking for honest, hardworking people, I would highly recommend them with confidence!
