Ok..I realize this took 3 years to post, but I wanted to make sure this was gonna be a sincere review. After 3 years, we're absolutely 💯 satisfied and happy with the job the Cranbrook crew did with paving our driveway. Excellent wear, no issues, & price was absolutely wonderful & well worth it. (Only minus was we kept getting told dates for completion that were put off several times, so it took longer than initially told).

PP was contracted to pave our Community Hall Parking lot. The drain was installed wrong twice but they went ahead with it anyway. The finished job should have been flush with the surrounding area. The parking lot was a blank canvas. If the installed drain was lower they could go down as far as they wanted without a problem and slop everything correctly. They're solution was to raise the parking lot. They couldn't raise the sidewalk though, which flooded when it rained. The problem was so obvious that I pointed it out and showed them with a hose while the were still on the property. Ron said they would come back and make it right. They created a ditch where the car is that should have been paved to the edge. They raised the field side so much the water runs to the sidewalk side of the parking lot instead of going down the middle. One of their suggestions was to pave over the sidewalk and build it up to hide the problem. So the band aid they put on it was a trench drain that goes half way down the sidewalk, which I had to clean the pavement out of. Since there wasn't much of a slope at the other end, when they dug it up and filled it in it flattened out. Now water puddles at the bottom of the back door ramp. I requested disability approved/pedestrian grates. They installed 1/2" and 3/4" grates in front of the front door where our disability parking is. Those grates can trap wheel chairs, walkers, canes, high heeled shoes, etc. The satisfaction guarantee only means if they are satisfied not the customer. The driveways that I set them up with turned out just fine.

We were looking to get our driveway paved and got a quote in April of 2022. Over the next 2 years I was never given a date for paving. PP was impossible to reach by phone and every email reply would either say "we'll be there soon" or "I don't know if we will be there at all"

For 2 years I chased my own tail to try and get my driveway paved. For 2 years I never had any meaningful communication or saw anything resembling organization.

Save yourself the hassle. I called South-East Maintenance and their communication and work was top notch. From quote to paved driveway was one month. Even when weather wasn't cooperating, Southeast sent out emails describing the delay and giving me a new start date which they stuck to. I wouldn't recommend PP to anyone who likes to see projects get completed in a timely manner

I have a 4plex in Cranbrook. The large parking area needed some crack repairs. POWER PAVING had a large ad in the local paper." NO JOB TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL" .I gave them a call. Rod who I talked to passed me on to Rick. Rick then passed me on to Steve Shelley. Being a large company , I did not find this unusual.
Steve Shelley came out and assessed the job. My idea was to fill the cracks but he said that using a torch on product and then sealing over it was a much better way to do the job and more durable in the long run. Agreeing on that we settled on a price of $2400. To fill ALL of the cracks and to top seal.
On September 21st I did all the prep that Steve requested such as pressure washing, sweeping and edging. Steve came by briefly during that day and said that it looked good.
On September 22nd the job was started and it only took about 4 hours. I was absent on business , but my partner ,Lucille was there to pay them. During the course of the work, Steve mentioned that the job was bigger than he thought. Lucille topped his quote by @200 to have a good job done. Steve accepted that.
I inspected the job 1 week later on September 29th. Quite possibly , it was THE WORST WORKMANSHIP I HAVE EVER SEEN in my life. Keep in mind that I was a building contractor for some years. Let me describe it.
1) there was @ 350 linear feet of cracks. Only @ 200 linear feet had been covered with the torch on product.
2) the strips that were used ,appeared to me , to be scraps left over from another job. No two pieces were the same width, varying in width from @7 inches to 2.5 inches. All were cut lengthwise crookedly.
3) the joints where the strips met were for the most part either open , exposing the crack or overlapping, creating a catch area for snow shovels.
4)bubbles all over the place where the product was not bonding to the pavement. I marked over 50 with a red crayon , and then I stopped counting .Upon closer inspection, none of the torch on product was adhering to the pavement at all ! It all came up like scotch tape in about 2 minutes. I could not see any evidence that a torch had even been used.
5) really, the only thing holding these supposedly torched on strips in place was the sealing topcoat.
I contacted Steve about this and he came out on October 6th. I showed him the work and the lack of it and he agreed to remedy the botched job .But he said that he had to TALK TO HIS BOSS , RICK , FIRST.
He then went on to blame Rick, saying, 'This is what he told me to do".
Steve left . I have not heard from him since . He doesnt return phone calls or answer emails.
When I phoned Rick, he said that I would have to take it up with Steve because Steve was a sub contractor and was not a POWER PAVING EMPLOYEE.
When I phoned Rod, I found him quite affable at first, but as soon as I mentioned STEVE SHELLEY he became rude and indignant . He told me "not to get smart" and that his 'time was very valuable '. Essentially he said the same thing, that STEVE SHELLEY was not an employee of POWER PAVING.
I found this rather strange as there were 3 POWER PAVING trucks at that job site. Steve had referred to Rick several times as his boss. As well , Rick was on the site for upwards of 1 hour as my wife talked to him the entire time
Rick does not answer my emails. Steve does not answer emails or return phone calls. No one would supply me with Steves company name, address or WORKSAFE number.
This company has a long standing in the community. It totally escapes me why they would treat a customer so poorly.Especially on a relatively small job that would be so easy to remedy.
Too many things with this company that just dont add up.
If this Steve Shelley is an employee then why doesnt the company stand behind their work.
If he is a subcontractor as they claim, why does it seem like they are covering for him?
