We've boarded our dog here twice now. Never again!

Each time when they ask how much to feed him, they are perplexed when we respond that he's free feeding. The reason they don't know what to do with this information is that they only feed boarded dogs once a day. This seems completely at odds with what I know of pet owners in general, ourselves included, in that pets typically get fed twice per day. It appears that little effort is made to follow practices that welcome dogs into an unfamiliar place. Add to that, our dog came home after the first boarding 5 kg lighter with his ribs showing quite clearly.

Today, when we picked him up, they added a $100 surcharge to our bill claiming we had an appointment time at 4pm and we were late. They claim to have told me, but that is clearly not my recollection. Sadly, there is no boarding agreement to look at and determine who is correct. Never before have I ever boarded a dog elsewhere without signing a boarding agreement. When we boarded our cat at a different place for this trip, we signed and agreement. In discussion, they just dug in their heels and refused to consider that, perhaps, they may have forgotten to advise us of the repercussions of missing a so-called appointment. Why would anyone who lives 10 minutes away risk a $100 late penalty if they knew about it?

I hope the owners are happy that they stuck to their guns and got $100 from us. That's because we won't be boarding our dog with this place again. So far, Qimmiq Kennels has earned about $1100 from us boarding our dog in the past 5 months. In refusing to consider this situation reasonably, they've opted to have this ongoing business and revenue go to one of their competitors.

Extremely disappointed with an unnecessarily officious approach to client service.

My dog looks incredible. I have been to other groomers before and there is no comparison. The groomer is a miracle worker. The owner is as sweet as pie. 11/10 would recommend 🙂

Great day camp, and my dog clearly loves it as she all but screams in my ear as we head down the hill into Kam Lake. They take care of my dog, whether its day camp or boarding, and she's always tired when she comes home, which is greatly appreciated.

Services are non-transferable, payment upfront (& not refundable if plans change), etc., but they're business people and their services are in high-demand, so I can't fault them for that. Their staff are friendly, and very helpful. Plus, they gave my sled dog the best grooming she's ever had. Day care x grooming combo is amazing, so I'd have to say they are the best doggy day care in Yellowknife.

When I haven't had many opportunities to take my dog out for walks (often due to long periods of cold weather) I'll drop her off for a day of Doggy Day Camp and she will come home TIRED! The staff are amazingly friendly and caring of the dogs that are within their charge. I'm glad to have their services available to have my dog socialize and play with other dogs, and exercise! The prices are fair even when leaving a reasonable tip for the folks taking care of my pup. Love it!

I booked my daughter's dog to the kennel for boarding. Called back 3 hours later to cancel.
They charged me $225..how fair is that. Of course I could only leave a message because noone picked up.
Has this happened to anyone else. And yes they did not call me to discuss!

Took my Yorkie there for one night. Even though I had filled out application saying he’s taking meds and checked the website AND had a conversation with owner I was NEVER informed of $10 per pill charge. Plus they charged for 2 nights of boarding instead of the one he stayed there. He got home was starving and wouldn’t leave my side. Talk to the owner and she’s basically telling me too bad and good luck with next boarding place. I asked my colleagues who are dog owners if this is normal and they said no. I was charged $235 for a 1 night stay. These folks are unethical.
