Painters beware....Rona no longer shakes open cans of paint.....if you want to touch up your paint job after some wear, be aware that Rona won't shake that paint for you. I had to take 6 gallons of Sico paint to Home Hardware. Oh and they no longer allow pets in the store, so through all this inconvenience I also had to leave my dog in my vehicle.....but not at Home Hardware..

*Edit* Well, as usual...one bad apple spoils the bunch. Recently discovered that the regular cash customer service desk has been closed down. If one needs help, you have to go to the contractor's desk. Which I did. And got the look. You know the one. The one that says "great, I hate cash customers. They take all my time and I have no interest in helping them." And he literally had no interest in helping me. I was looking to have a particular special order item quoted. I had done my research and knew that Rona could access this manufacturer and product. Buddy just told me, "nah, we can't get that. The web site is wrong. Can't help you." Completely dismissive. So, went home and sent an email to the manufacturer's general inquiry email address. Had an answer in a couple of hours. Yes, indeed Rona could order in my product; all he needed to do was call and have price and delivery time quoted. But luckily they also said that Windsor Plywood repped their line and I could go to them as an alternative. So I called over their. Had my quote and availability back in 20 minutes. Rona lost out on a $1300 sale because some counter guy couldn't be bothered to pick up a phone. That's beyond terrible. And because of this, I've taken every dollar of my reno project elsewhere. And that, kids, is why some places thrive while others slowly shrivel up and die. One interaction with a staff member who clearly didn't want to deal with a non-contractor cost this business a few thousand dollars in sales. Too bad. I used to think more highly of this operation; as you can read below...but times change...

Love the fact that this particular location retains a small town feel...the people that work there all look like they enjoy being there; say hello, goodbye and thanks and don't have the hollow beaten dig look that most retail employees seem to have these days. Nice atmosphere to browse around in...solid choice for the markets it serves...

Manager lady with dark brown hair & glasses had a very snotty & unhelpful demeaner & speech when I asked if I could remove an easily replaceable zip tie to test fit a belt into a tool pouch before purchasing. The younger staff girls were very cheerful & helpful. I'll return, but I'll avoid the wicked witch of the west.

Complete scam artists. Was in there 2 weeks ago and they had a great deal on AC units. So I ordered one, gave them my info, paid for it and was told it would be in on Thursday. Called them on Thursday and they said the truck wasn’t unpacked yet, they’d call me when it was ready. A week and a half later I phone them and apparently they don’t actually have the AC unit that I paid for. Somebody made a mistake and sold a product they didn’t have. So you’d think they’d offer me the same discount on a similar product right? Nope, but for only $100 more I can upgrade to the bigger unit! So instead of the $170 off of the one I originally paid for they’re going to give me $120 off of the more expensive one! Nothing like selling a product that you don’t actually have and then trying to sell me something different at less of a discount after making me wait 2 weeks! Too bad, I had a few Reno’s planned but I will not be setting foot in that store again.

The difficulty in getting the customer service staff to communicate with the yard staff is frustrating. It takes, for me, on average, 3 tries to get the right paperwork to be able to pick up my purchase in the yard. Store prices are insane. I would rather drive to Prince George or Grande Prairie than shop at the local Rona.

Very helpful staff, they had what I needed helped get it to the till, even had a cashier help me take my cart to my truck, and chatted the whole way, even after I insisted I was more than capable of doing it myself! Only reason they missed a star is their price point is a little over some of their competitors.

staff are great and do their best to help, and will go look for help if they are not sure of something. Though, our family had one negative experience with not being able to get standard replacement parts for a lawnmower that we bought there years before.
