We recently purchased GE Profile appliances at Rona Nanaimo. Our sales representative Victor was superb, extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and spent quite a bit of time with us. We love the appliances and Rona delivered them in just 1 week and we had the dishwasher installed for us. All delivery and installation staff were fantastic, very professional, tidy, did a great job. I will also say we were surprised at the immense amount of appliance selection at the store. Overall an amazingly smooth appliance shopping/purchasing experience.

I decided to buy 65 composite deck boards from Rona in Nanaimo, instead of using wood that needs refinishing every few years. Had it professionally built too. But after just two years, the composite boards started to warp, shrink and even crack lengthwise. Took my invoice to Rona to see what could be done as they had a five year warranty. But I was told I had to contact the composite board manufacturer. Of course. So I did that, only to be told they weren't their boards so I would have to go back to who sold them to me. Will try one more time but expecting yet another runaround. Whatever happened to retailers standing behind what they sell? So frustrating.

Nice store well laid out. Need more staff and knowledgeable staff. It doesn’t mean the staff member I spoke to didn’t know their area but was filling in where more staff should be.
This also leads to theft as there isn’t staff.

I went to RONA Nanaimo store for a ceiling light. I found a light that has a tag said “reduced: was $224, now $168”. I feel like it’s a good deal. So I brought one to checkout. But the cashier said there is no discount for that one and another employee asked me where did I find the discount. I showed him the tag on the light. He said it should be the price for that display only (but there is nothing shown on the tag) and he would ask the cashier manager to see if we can get a discount because clearly it was a mistake and would confuse other customers. After he and the manager ( a female employee) had a conversation, the manager went to us and said:“the price is for the display only, we sale it as it is. We can take the display down and sell to you if you want.” We were not interested in the display, but the manager’s attitude is unforgivable. The tag was written and hanged by RONA’s employee and they should bear the responsibility that confused customers. However, the cashier manager, she did not apologize at all and use the tone that is very offensive. This lady really is not professional and not suitable to be a manager.

Later on I bought another two lights worth $400. But guess what, one of the light is too cheaply made. The instruction only has one page and the parts are too small and I couldn’t install it to my ceiling. When I went to return it, the customer service kiosk has no employee. And we saw that cashier manager was standing there, but no intend to help us. Finally one cashier came to help us after several minutes. But she examined the product again and again, and said she had to ask permission from her manager. Only after that cashier manager said yes, we finally got our money back. The whole return process took almost 10 minutes. How ridiculous is that.

Such a place has the worst customer service and low quality product. I will never spend a dime in RONA. I can get better service and better price in HOME DEPOT.

I visited the store on Sunday August 18th. I was enquiring about an EGO lawn mower. I was helped by Santiago. He answered my questions and looked into getting me the last sale price. But it was over the time. But he was very helpful and polite. I just want to let you know that I was very happy with my service even though I didn't purchase anything that day.

Do not stand by their words and products. Bought a propane tank and asked if they would buy back the empty, and was told that they do. Brought it back and suddenly they don't. Now I'm stuck with a tank I can't take on the ferry back. Go to Home Depot, at least if they say they do something, they do.
The cashier even remembers store personnel saying they do the buyback, but that doesn't help. So yes, definitely do not stand by their products and services

It's on the smaller side, but I always find what I'm looking for here. The staff are super friendly and helpful and always have a little treat for my dog!
