Selection is what you would expect and the staff are very courteous and hard working, but it seems like this store is poorly managed. Whether the deli, customer service, or the tills, every department is understaffed and stretched so thin that I'm almost never helped in a timely manner. Again can't stress enough it's not the staff's fault, there just aren't enough of them.

I used to shop here up to 4x a week. Since the prices have soared I have opted for other, much better grocers. Yesterday I returned to purchase a couple of items and was in shock at the prices and the state of the produce. "Enjoy tonight" discount items that are months expired and the discount produce rack was full of fruits and veggies that were absolutely covered in white fuzzy mold. How can you even think it's ok to sell a containers of fruit that is 50% mold? I purchased the full price lemon I needed, cut into it that night and it was completely dry in the center. They seem to put all their focus on putting up barriers and hiring security acting as customers to roam the store and stare at you.

It is immensly frustrating when dealing with staff that has little to no knowledge of how to answer questions related to stock and inventory. Especially when they are answering calls as customer service. You need to cross train your employees to be able to perform seemingly basic tasks. Ridiculous.

I’ve been a loyal customer of the Independent Grocery Store located in Kamloops for several years, but recent price increases have left me quite disappointed. While I’ve always appreciated the store’s commitment to offering a wide range of products and a personal touch that larger chains often lack, the recent trend in rising prices is hard to overlook.

The store has long been a staple in the community, known for its friendly staff and convenient location. The layout of the store is user-friendly, and the selection of products, from fresh produce to pantry staples, has generally been solid. I’ve often enjoyed supporting a local business rather than a big-box retailer, and the Independent Grocery Store has been my go-to for everything from weekly groceries to specialty items.

However, over the past few months, I've noticed a significant uptick in prices across various product categories. While I understand that inflation and supply chain issues can affect pricing, the increases here seem more pronounced than at other local or chain stores. This has made my grocery bills noticeably higher, and it’s become a challenge to manage my budget effectively.

Moreover, while the quality of products remains high, the disparity between the store’s pricing and that of its competitors is becoming increasingly apparent. I’ve also noticed fewer promotions and discounts, which used to be a regular feature that softened the blow of rising costs.

The staff, as always, are incredibly helpful and maintain a positive atmosphere, which is one of the store's greatest strengths. However, unless there’s a reevaluation of their pricing strategy, I may need to explore other options to balance quality and cost more effectively.

I hope that the store will address these concerns and consider adjusting their prices to better reflect the value they offer. Supporting local businesses is important, but it’s equally crucial for them to remain competitive and accessible for the community they serve.

90% of the stock sold at independent comes from american brands. Stop selling so much american and put canadian owned on your shelves.

Wow way to go ...you have a few bags stolen .....now you treat all us customers like thieves by making us ask for bags at the self checkout ......maybe you should look at the staff you pay to stare at us while we over pay for your products ...its are fault they are blind and can't see thieves take bags.....and now more great produce from here .... not .....also I fund the big chain prices similar or cheaper than here .....left side is decent enough to eat ....right side rotten and inedible
