Lovely and friendly facility staff and diner, good food with special care for gluten-free, clean and spacious locker rooms. I would give a full 5 stars except for the one issue of having only 2 swimming lanes that anyone doing lengths has to share... and though I make a good effort to keep my arms and legs to myself while passing another swimmer, a lot of other folks, unfortunately, do not. Lol! But when not too many swimmers are there, it's a good little pool for lengths. 🙂

This review is mainly for the bad part but here’s the good part

Good: nice skating rink, good pool but the hot tub is always down, welcoming staff

Bad: only one staff member that used to work there, when I was in kindergarten I would go to the swimming pool for swimming lessons. This lady which used to work as a instructor was rude. She almost made me die by forcing my head under the water. She was rude to other kids as well. I guess she got fired after that because I’ve never seen her since. To be honest, she deserved to be fired for what she did.

If I would to put money on any town having a leisure center you bet your bottoms I would pick Sparwood. These people do not know how to work. Period. Sparwood more like Softwood because everyone here has soft hands. Also side not I have seen lots of reviews about the staff here. I have heard some chatter about the staff being mean or rude here. These “accusations” are false. They scream really clear orders at you and as long as you follow them there will be no repercussions.

Nice pool, hot tub a bit cool, hate coin lockers, as waste of $, and trouble with loonie jambing. Should put a few padlock lockers. Lane swim closes to early, I get back from work at 5:45 by the time I walk the dogs and get there it’s only 15 minutes for lane swimming. There should be one day of the week or lane swimming is until 7:30

Staff was very rude to kids. Would yell at them to stop doing something, with zero manners, no please, no thank you! Made customers clean up pool toys 15 minutes before rental was over. Lifeguards' started putting out lanes 10 minutes before our rental was over. Lifeguard stood with whistle in her mouth for 5 minutes watching the clock tick down to our end time. Made parents get out of hot tub and go into pool because the "child to adult ratio was off". Yet all of the children in the pool were either 7 years and older (as per pool rules) or were within arms reach of a parent, while 2 other employees sat in the office. The parents in the hot tub had every right to be in there. Constantly yelling at kids for something. "Can't walk on brown tiles" "Can't stand up on pool floatie" (In the middle of the pool, where if they were to fall, they would simply fall into the water). Kids were walking out of hot tub on their way out when a lifeguard told them to "hurry up and get going." As a group that paid to rent to the pool...0/5 do not recommend.

Always clean. Always tidy. Wheel chair access all over. Pool is top notch. Gym is a great atmosphere with plenty of help if ya need it from others. I have yet to have a bad experience there. Lots of parking as well. You can even drive up to the doors for those that need that as well.

Rundown facility serving a wide range of unwashed seniors and families, change rooms badly need upgrades, poor sanitary standards, no cleaning crew doing regular rounds with a mop; pool water has given me mysterious rashes, they blew the budget on the hot tub but it's the pool that needs more care.
