Stellantis Hurricane 2.5L

Key Calculations & Considerations

1. Weight & Power-to-Weight Ratio

Chrysler Pacifica: ~4,500 lbs (depending on trim)

400 hp AWD version → 11.25 lbs/hp (close to a 2024 BMW X3 M40i)

350 hp FWD version → 12.85 lbs/hp (similar to a Golf R)

This setup would be quick but still usable for a family hauler.

2. Transmission Limits

Chrysler’s 9-speed auto (ZF 9HP) can handle 400-450 lb-ft, so it should work with minor upgrades.

AWD system needs stronger half-shafts to avoid torque steer & drivetrain shock.

3. Fuel Economy & Cost

A twin-turbo 2.5L could still get 20-25 mpg, way better than a V8.

Aiming for a $50K price tag would keep it below luxury performance SUVs.

Final Build Concept – Pacifica/Caravan SRT6

Engine: 2.5L Twin-Turbo (~400 hp, ~450 lb-ft)

Drivetrain: FWD (350 hp) / AWD (400 hp)

Transmission: 9-speed auto

Suspension: Lowered, adaptive damping

Brakes: Brembo 4-piston fronts, upgraded rears

Interior: Sport seats, Alcantara, digital SRT gauges

Wheels/Tires: 19” lightweight alloys, sticky all-seasons

This setup keeps it fast, practical, and affordable.

Drive Modes (Optional Package)

1. Eco Mode → Maximizes fuel efficiency, softens throttle, early shifts.

2. Comfort Mode → Smooth throttle response, balanced suspension.

3. Sport Mode → Sharper throttle, firmer suspension, quicker shifts.

4. Track Mode (SRT6 Exclusive) → Aggressive launch control, max boost, stiff suspension.

This way, the Pacifica/Caravan SRT6 stays practical for road trips and school runs but can also embarrass muscle cars when needed.

Paddle Shifter Setup

Material: Aluminum or carbon fiber (optional upgrade)

Response Time: Tuned for quick shifts (~150ms)

Integration: Works with launch control & drive modes

Manual Mode: Holds gears without auto upshifting in Track mode

This would make it one of the few performance minivans with paddle shifters, alongside high-end SUVs.

Rev-Matching (Standard in Manual Mode)

Auto-blips throttle on downshifts for smoother transitions

Prevents drivetrain shock and keeps shifts aggressive but controlled

Active only in manual mode (disabled in Comfort/Eco)

Pop & Bang Tune (Optional Upgrade)

Works in Sport & Track Mode

Mild option: Subtle burbles on deceleration

Aggressive option: Loud cracks on throttle lift-off

Tuned for safe levels, not excessive fuel dumping

Can be toggled on/off in settings

This setup would make the SRT6 minivan feel like a proper performance machine while keeping the family-friendly side intact.

Valved Exhaust System (Optional Upgrade)

Comfort/Eco Mode → Closed valves for a quieter, refined ride

Sport Mode → Partially open for a deeper, sporty tone

Track Mode → Fully open, allowing max flow & aggressive sound

Integrated with Drive Modes (adjusts automatically)

Manual Override → Button to toggle between loud & quiet anytime

This setup keeps it family-friendly while still letting it sound like an SRT when you want.

In October 2024, we purchased a new 2024 Dodge Durango RT Plus from Fraser Durham Chrysler in Oshawa, Ontario. Less than three months later (January 17, 2025), it went for service at the dealership for a cluster replacement due to issues with the instrument cluster. It has now been over six weeks since we last had possession of our vehicle as we were advised we could not drive the vehicle during this time.
Moreover, four weeks after the dealership took possession of the vehicle, we discovered that it had sustained damage to the rear end from an apparent collision. The dealership did not notify us that the car had been damaged. The dealership's handling of this situation has been unsatisfactory; they have shown little regard for us as customers. They have failed to proactively communicate, return calls or emails, or provide proper updates on the status of the initial cluster issue. Additionally, they are insisting that repairing the damages incurred on their property is our responsibility under "comprehensive damages," despite the fact that the damages appear a result from a collision.
Our attempts to seek assistance from FCA Canada's head office customer service have also been disappointing. Their responses have been unhelpful and they have failed to return our calls. We have copied members of the executive and senior leadership team at Stellantis, yet we have received no acknowledgment of our concerns.
Our new vehicle has been at the dealership for over 6 weeks, which accounts for over 30% of the time we have owned it. This situation is unacceptable. We have experienced significant loss of use, loss of warranty time, and financial losses associated with subscribing to services we are not receiving. We are currently paying for a vehicle we cannot drive, and it has now been damaged in a collision, leading to potential out-of-pocket expenses, impacts on insurance, and potential depreciation of our vehicle's value. The management and response by Fraser Chrysler, Fraser Automotive Group, and Stellantis Canada have been exceedingly unsatisfactory.

This is a manufacturing facility. It is not open to the public. But remember next time you are looking to buy a vehicle, the Chrysler Pacifica and Grand Caravan are built right here in Windsor. Support local canadian made products.

I work for FCA and I am damn proud of it. But to be honest, there is a culture that needs to be changed and changed soon. Otherwise, big companies like Chrysler will turn to robots for everything. I enjoy the people I work with and for, but I hope in the near future the hourly union work force get their act together and protect the company that pays them by putting forth a stronger effort.
