My daughter has been riding by at this barn for almost 3.5 years and absolutely loves in. My daughter can be shy and reserved at times, and all the staff, including the owner have been exceptional about working her through this and being patient and kind during her learning. My daughter has gained tones of confidence and looks forward to riding every week. The owner is great about being flexible about scheduling and always puts the safety of her riders first. Happy to recommend.

My daughter attended March break camp and loved it. She enjoyed everything about it from the structured lessons to the games and activities. She also really loved the whole facility and interacting with horses, ponies and barn cats. Jennifer was also very kind to accommodate some of her sensory sensitivities. We will definitely be signing up for summer camp and looking into lessons.

Day horse camp was nice. Also a birthday party there was fun. Friendly helpful staff. Three cute cats there purr and let people to pet them 😉

Our Granddaughter has only been a student here for 3 years and she participated in 3 Shows in Omemee this past summer and won many ribbons and prizes due to the expert lessons Jen, her instructor/owner has given her. We are so very pleased with her riding skills and she absolutely loves Tanglewood Farms and her horse Hugo. They have a no nonsense policy, which I love, and put their horses and students safety above all. If you want your kids, or if you want to learn to ride as an adult, I highly recommend Jen and Tanglewood Farms.

My goodness. Just removed my daughter from day-camp here as the older assistants were threatening the kids and calling them names. We have never removed our daughter from any other camp and she has previously taken riding lessons elsewhere, but she was not safe here with the owner and her assistants who were harsh with the kids (and horses my daughter noticed). When you bring a concern to them about your child's experience they argue with you and tell you your child is lying. The owner couldn't care less about you or your child. Do not waste your time or money here. There are many other reviews elsewhere (yelps etc) that speak to the same issue. I wish I had read them prior to sending her.

After reading two negative reviews from the horse riding camp my child just attended here (same session as those who are complaining), I feel it pertinent to follow up with our experience.

This was my child's first experience at Tanglewood, and taking riding lessons.

We attended based on a positive review from a school friend who attended a March Break camp here.

My daughter and 3 of her friends thoroughly enjoyed their week at Tanglewood's day camp.

Regarding the first day, I must admit that I wondered at the time of drop off if there were simply too many children enrolled.

I recall there being 14ish to start, but was also made aware by Jenn that morning there would be less the next day (some were only there for one day). This made me feel satisfied.

I also noted at pick up on that first day that there were a few children waiting outside the assigned pick up area. From my observation these particular children were being mouthy and not listening to Jen.

I think it is important to note that these particular children who in my opinion were acting unruly at pick up on the first day, were not in attendance the next two days.

Upon being told there were indeed less children after the second day by my child, I asked them the pointed question if it was nicer with fewer children. They absolutely felt it was.

My child had nothing but positive things to say about Jen, her children (who happened to be the counselors) and this experience.

In terms of constructive criticism, I personally would have appreciated a reminder email or text about the camp. Especially just before final payment was due.

Our life, like many is a bit of a whirlwind, and the ball can sometimes get dropped. Therefore a quick reminder text or email can be preemptive and Jen could therefore avoid a barrage of questions from multiple parents or guardians.

That said, I also understand full well we had all the appropriate information in that initial form, and it was my responsibility to stay on top of things.

I think in society we have become so used to being spoon fed with a million reminders from our children's schools, extracurricular activities etc., that it is easy to lose personal accountability.

I think we have also become used to sentiment that we, and or our children can do no wrong.

Our family very much enjoyed this experience for what it was.

My child had the opportunity to learn about horse care, ride a horse and become more comfortable around these beautiful animals.

She played in the hay, cuddled with kittens, pet goats and enjoy some good old fashioned outdoor time with her friends and peers. I think she also relished in the atomomy and independence that this environment brought.

My child loved the experience so much, that they wanted to attend next week. And believe me when I say it, if there was something amiss, they would have told me.

The other negative review here is accurate about customer service and I will also add the ways of working with children at this ranch. My daughter attended their summer camp and the owner’s son called her a brat and told her to be quiet, that ponies won’t “kill” her when she was frightened around a pony. Owner was dismissive and defensive, denied anything wrong was said or done by her son and didn’t make me feel like she would address the issue so I had to remove my daughter from the program because I wasn’t confident that she would have a good experience there. I don’t recommend this place for children — stay away.

Update: I also checked some other review sites like Yelp and this place has numerous negative reviews for mistreating children, horses and misrepresenting themselves — using fake photos on their website. Do your research and stay away.

I have dealt with Tanglewood Farm for the past 7 years. I’m an experienced horseman, and host annual equine events. Jennifer always brings a contingent of children and young adults to participate. They are always courteous and exhibit excellent horsemanship skills. I highly recommend Jennifer as a coach because she not only instills confidence in her students, she encourages them to make measurable progress within a reasonable timeline.
