Lovely venue. My boyfriend and I had a good experience for the price, as we’ve done different tea rooms in Ontario. Raasty, our server, was super pleasant and attentive to all of the tables. The savouries were really good, the scones were delicious, though a little sweet, they did have clotted cream, and the deserts were pretty decent. We were given complimentary tea sachets upon leaving.

I’ve been hesitant to try this tea room because of the mixed reviews so went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The service was slow but friendly. I had the cream tea and shared a dessert plate with my mom. The scones were good but not the best I’ve ever had. The dessert plate was quite generous and tasty. Prices were fair and I’d come back in the future if I was at the RBG for an event. I wouldn’t make a special trip here just for the tea. There are better options elsewhere.

The Tea House at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington is a delightful gem, nestled within the serene beauty of the gardens. It offers a charming and relaxing spot for a casual tea break while exploring the RBG’s stunning landscapes. With a cozy atmosphere, it’s perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.

One of the standout items at the Tea House is their scones, which are a must-try for any visitor. Their classic scones strike a perfect balance between crumbly and soft, with just the right amount of buttery richness. Served with clotted cream and jam, they are light yet indulgent, making for a delicious treat. The scones are always fresh, and you can tell they are baked with care. Whether paired with a pot of tea or enjoyed on their own, they are a highlight of the menu.

The Tea House also offers a variety of teas to choose from, ranging from classic Earl Grey to more exotic blends, all served in a proper teapot, adding to the traditional experience. Their selection of light bites and pastries complements the tea service, though the scones truly stand out as the star of the show.

The ambiance is peaceful, with large windows offering views of the surrounding gardens, adding to the overall charm of the experience. Whether you sit indoors or on the patio, the setting feels intimate and picturesque, making it a lovely place to relax after strolling through the gardens.

In summary, the Tea House at Royal Botanical Gardens is a quaint and charming spot, perfect for a quiet break amidst nature. Their scones, paired with a cup of tea, are simply excellent and well worth the visit. If you’re spending the day at the gardens, stopping by the Tea House is a must for a cozy and delicious treat.

I was feeling unwell on Wednesday evening and our reservation was for Friday at 1:45pm. I tried to call on Thursday morning at both 9am, 11:30am and 4pm to see about rescheduling. No one returned my call so we went because I didn't want to be charged $25 per person for a no show. We ordered 3 of the vegan afternoon tea options. We really disappointed as the bread and the scones were so dry, they crumbled to dust in our hands. The flavor of everything was mediocre at best. We discovered that they were gluten free which wasn't necessary and explains why they lacked flavor.
Our server, although very pleasant took a long time revisiting our table and we were often without water or in my son's case, lemonade. Overall, definitely not worth $38 per person and we won't be doing again.

Also, we returned home and I tested and it turns out I have COVID so ....good luck with that đŸ€·

I had the teddy bear tea set. The atmosphere is really nice. Very romantic vibe. Really lovely! I was happy to sit down and relax with the tea and pastries after walking around the rose garden.
The quality/portion of the food was so so. The Madeline did taste bit off (hardened). But the vibe was nice to look out the big window to the rose garden. Would recommend for the unique experience if you are in the royal botanical garden.

It was “just okay.”
The tea room is in a beautiful setting but admission to the grounds is not included. If you want to walk around before or after you have to pay the garden admission. It should be included, at least for the garden the tea house is in.
Food was average. The bread on the sandwiches tasted stale. Desserts were nothing special. Tea pots are not refilled. The tea itself was lovely.
Service was non-existent, as in they brought our tea and the tower and then
nothing. Literally nothing until we were sitting there with a wallet out ready to pay.

Is the tea house under new management or something We’re RBG members and used to love coming here and recommended it to everyone. We went today for the first time this year and the menu had changed. The portions were a lot smaller, the menu selection was smaller, and the food wasn’t as good. We left hungry. For over $50 for two people, we should have left feeling full. We ended up going somewhere else to have dessert.

To top it off, when I booked the reservation, I also received a notice that I’d be charged a cancellation fee, which is insane. Someone else left a review below that they had Covid and still went for their reservation because they didn’t wasn’t to be charged for cancelling. That’s really the policy you want to encourage?

Doubtful that we’ll be coming back unless there are changes to the menu, food quality, and cancellation policy to ensure we’re not risking being exposed to illness. And I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone anymore.

We absolutely enjoyed our high tea experience today. Service was great, so glad they had gluten-free, vegetarian options and at reasonable prices. All the sandwiches, scones and desserts tasted fresh. All my friends enjoyed the variety of teas especially the peaches and cream and the ginger one. I really recommend the tea house, the server was patient, atmosphere is beautiful and all our food and tea were great.
