There are many reasons to visit The Modest Butcher, and all are reasons I want to return again and again. The quality of meats are excellent, cooked properly to temperature, and have great flavor. The vegetables and charcuterie accessories are delightful and pair well. The wine selection is filled with many local delicacies. The views are world-class. The rotating menu remains snarky, witty, and humorous.

There is nothing to be modest about. This restaurant is among the best.

Great views and happy hour. Also amazing lunch and dinner. This is a bit of a hidden gem in west Kelowna. Attached to Mount Boucherie winery. They have some amazing offering for lunch, happy hour and dinner. Some of the best steak I’ve ever had. Also their house wines are very good. I especially love their Sangiovese. A definite must try in the area.

Beautiful restaurant with an amazing view. Unfortunately, their steak cook is not skilled. Got blue rare steak and was offered to fix it. So in the end I got my food after my husband finished his plate and the steak was still rare instead of medium. The server offered to take the steak back to the kitchen for the third time lol. For the price, I would expect a perfect meal with perfect service.
They gave me one glass of cheap wine as sorry and still let me pay for the steak. Seriously this was unexpected.

The highlight of our evening, however, was the exceptional service provided by David and Logan. These two servers went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of perfect. Their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impressive, guiding us through each course with enthusiasm and expertise. They were attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our every need with a smile and genuine warmth that made us feel like cherished guests.

The food at The Modest Butcher is a culinary masterpiece. The 62oz tomahawk was artfully presented and bursting with flavour . The chef’s commitment to excellence is evident in every bite, and the wine pairings recommended by David and Logan elevated the dining experience to new heights.

Overall, my experience at The Modest Butcher was unforgettable . The combination of views, exquisite food and wine, and the exemplary service from David and Logan made it an evening to remember. First time in Kelowna, and this restaurant not only has amazing gourmet food, but the view is amazing and relaxing. The most impressive thing is their service, every single waiter here is polite and friendly. We were amazed by them. Our waiter Daniel was charming, knowledgeable and very charismatic, he made us feel that we knew each other for a long time. We enjoyed their wine and had an amazing dinner experience. I highly recommend. It’s a most to go if you are visiting Kelowna, BC. Thank you Daniel, missing you already!!

We had a wonderful dinner at the modest butcher a few weeks ago. The place is very popular and gets lively in the evenings. It can get really loud as well, so if seeking something quiet and intimate perhaps ask to be seated appropriately - the side farther away from the kitchen area seemed to have a more quiet atmosphere during our visit.

We were initially seated close to the kitchen, which has a great view but the exposure did not quite work for us so we were graciously moved a few seats down.
Service was excellent and attentive.

We started off with a charcuterie board , which wasn’t massive but had a rich flavour profile.
I would recommend it for a shareable.

We followed that up with Pork Belly & Scallops - also very delicious.

For the second bottle we enjoyed a duck confit , and finished off with the brownie trifle.

Stunning lunch at The Modest Butcher for my 50th celebrations delicious food, amazing wine and passable company hahaha! Definitely recommend this restaurant in the Okanagan! My pork belly and scallop entree/starter was amazing and sweet/sour/savoury goodness! Bruno’s gnocchi was heaven in a bowl with bloody good mushroom and bacon pecorino flavours and the gnocchi were almost as good as his mums! We had steak for lunch with tenderloin for him and NY Striploin for me. Massive kudos to the chef for asking our lovely server Ash to come discuss with me my cooking preferences as I love steak blue however he felt the fat would not render enough and asked if I would like it cooked longer or move to a tenderloin. I stayed with the striploin and got it medium rare and it was delicious!!! So education for me as normally rare is as far cooked as I would go Hahahahhaa then a beautiful small choloclate cream and raspberry compote dessert and a taste of Kelowna ice wine on the house from the restaurant. Just amazing!! This is service, food love and wine obsession rolled in to one! Love it. Def thanks tk Ash, the chef and team it was wonderful. THANK YOU

Enjoyed our dinner last night.
Had some cocktails. They were all great except they didn't have all the ingredients to make with the Toki Whiskey. For a 15+ drink you would think it would have a clear ice cube but it was sorta cloudy looking. Tasted fine none the less. Mocktails also tasted great.

Ordered the gnocchi and pork belly to start. Smaller portions than expected but they were very good and joined the clean plate club.

Ordered the burger and chicken sandwich this time around. Both were very delicious. Was able to sub out anything with truffle oil which was nice.

Service was awesome. Only thing stopping me from enjoying this place more often is the pricing. Burgers/appy/drinks for 2 was ~$165 after tax/tip 🤯

Was expecting a bit better for a $400+ experience. Overall it was good but not 5 stars. Been wanting to come here for quite some time but have been pretty busy during the Summer. Made reservations about two weeks in advance for a belated anniversary dinner. Arrived and still had to wait over 10 minutes for a table. Not a huge deal but a bar to wait at or something would have been nice.

Our server was nice and apologized for any wait times and to bear with her since they were busy/short staffed. It did seem pretty busy for a Monday evening.

We shared a charcuterie board and added a wedge of cheese. The tomatillo sauce and housemade nduja was great. The server didn't get into any specifics of the other meats. Overall the board was pretty good.

The drinks were pretty on point. Can't complain about the wine. Cocktails were great and had a couple zero proof drinks with some rum added.

Now for the main... The tomahawk ribeye. As this platter got served to our table it looked amazing! Huge tomahawk ribeye(pretty hard to find served around Kelowna) duck fat potatoes, broccolini, mushrooms, a compound butter on top, bearnaise/demi glace/chimichurri sauces, and a head of roasted garlic! Everything tasted amazing! Except.... The steak!? I was debating giving a 1 star review but I just can't. Maybe it was just a one off. The steak was cooked medium rare like we ordered. I love my steaks to have a good crust and a bit of char on the fat but the whole thing was just black and left a bitter taste in your mouth. (You can kinda tell in the photo, maybe they tried to cover it up with broccolini? Lol?) Does the executive chef only work weekends? Wouldn't expect a pro to send out a steak like it was. Would have been nice to have the full tomahawk in all its glory served on the board but it was pre-cut and partially covered. Overall it was pretty cool but I would probably just order a regular ribeye next time, or better yet just pull a nice dry-aged ribeye from the ager at home.

Will definitely come back, just don't know when. Burger sounds good, or maybe if I see steak tartare on the menu.
