Recently got delivery of 2 face cords from Van Beek’s, and I’ve been really happy with the quality. The wood burns clean and gives off consistent heat, way better than what I’ve gotten from other places in the past. Delivery was smooth and on time! The staff were helpful and made the whole process simple. Definitely planning to get more when I run low!

Incredibly frustrated with the “premium soil” that was delivered to us over the May long weekend. First, the soil came two days earlier than we ordered it for so we weren’t ready for it and had to have it dumped in our garden which mean the dump truck had to drive on our lawn where we were desperate trying to regrow our grass (even though I spoke with someone the day before who confirmed it was coming on the Monday). Then, the delivery only included 3 of our 4 cubic yards ordered.
They sent a driver two days later for the remaining soil which rather than putting in the garden was dumped ON the grass we were trying to grow and therefore it ruined it.

The soil itself is anything but premium. The “fine” consistency it is said to be online is full of hard (impossible to break down) clay like clumps, stones are scattered throughout and it’s impossibly dry. We have inground sprinkler and the “dirt” is dry within minutes of watering and has created a hard crust on top. Our garden looks awful.

To make matters worse, I’ve tried to reach out to VanBeeks via their online form and have received no response.

Do not order from here. A complete waste of our money and our time in trying to spread 4 cubic yards of very low quality soil.

Ordered 2 yards of Top dressing soil, confirmed order would be delivered early afternoon by Oakville location , by 1:45pm still no soil. Called Oakville, they said nope, Southdown location is suppose to deliver, called Southdown they said only now they’ve received the order from Oakville, anyways, didn’t get my soil 3:30pm, worked until 7pm to spread it, as there was 3 days of rain coming.

Fast forward to after 3 days of rain, my lawn is full of rocks once the rain washed out the soil Their site says “screened through a specialized sifter to ensure a fine consistency and is perfect for placing on even the most manicured lawns. “

Well that is hardly the case, cuz now I have to spend hours picking up all these rocks from my lawn. My lawn had zero rocks all these years and was perfect for the kids to run around barefoot. Super disappointed in Van Beeks lack of care or quality in product. They just lost a customer 🙁

I bought 2 or 3 face cords of wood last fall. When I had put it away I felt it was not enough wood. I checked their website and noticed that they define a face cord as 4’x6’ rather than 4’x8’ which is the accepted definition. I emailed them about this but never heard anything back. The wood was good and the price was less than other businesses offering a true face cord but not low enough to make the price equal.

The staff is amazing! From the super knowledgeable women who work inside and outside, to the boys who work so hard. Customer service goes above and beyond. I get super excited going down there! I have so much fun discussing dirt, rocks and sharing my designs with staff. You have a need for good quality merchandise? Go to Van Beek's they have garden tools, landscape fabrics and much more. My landscaping materials were delivered today and met Trystan who was very professional and diligent to find a spot to unload the materials... I highly recommended Van Beek's for their awesome crew... You certainly have gained my loyalty to do business.

Service seems okay. I've got my truck loaded quickly AND their delivery trucks came on the day they promised... However twice now I've purchased their premium garden soil AND triple mix... and it's basically clay... you would never use this for a garden bed. I would avoid their top dressing, premium soils, and triple mix... in Oakville our soil is already like clay... we don't need to add any more to our lawns and gardens.

I recently contacted the Oakville location, looking for a particular type of adhesive - Extreme Bond - which my brother had purchased from you. Two of your staff members (my apologies for not knowing their names) helped me to find a location here in Edmonton to purchase the product.
