I love these guys! They’re very attentive and understand how important customer connection is. They have a great selection of most anything in the butcher shop you need. Special orders, holiday turkey, and a great assortment of accompaniments. They always have great recommendations on how to prepare meats and fish recipes for what they sell.

awesome place to get grass fed beef and specialty meats. the clerks and butchers host great service! HOWEVER! i was disturbed by the way i assume the owner/manager speaks to his employees. i’m a former butcher so i understand how stressful and busy the christmas season is for a butcher shop. “wake up!” “when you stop daydreaming there’s customers on your left”. treat your employees with respect and have some professionalism in front of your customers. they’re out here working hard for you and the people of lynn valley. i hope you apologize to your staff and learn how to motivate and communicate with your team. disappointed in the management to say the least.

I REALLY want to support small business, but this place just makes it difficult to do so. I went to this place three times before deciding not to go again. First two times I bought despite not remotely good prices, third the staff member rudely assumed I just came from Save On, which I hadn't, nor was I planning to that day.
I had a bag full of items from Kins, which is hardly a direct competitor as it's a produce store. To spark this comment from the butcher I merely stated I was unsure I wanted to buy a particular item there to my partner (I think I was referring to eggs), it wasn't so loud the butcher should have been eves dropping in. I ended up leaving the roughly $40 of other items I was planning to buy and left. It's impossible not to shop at some of the larger chain grocery stores, and I'm sure even the butchers themselves find themselves at the large chain grocery stores for items that aren't meats. Like it or not, your customers cannot only shop at your store as there will always be things that you'll need to complete meals elsewhere. So no point in alienating your customers for the other stores they frequent.

Mike and Luiz are always helpful with ideas and suggestions. They have great variety and their house made boerewors sausage is incredible!

Prior to this year, we have always ordered our fresh Christmas turkeys from Costco and the turkeys have been very moist and tender. This year in early December, when Costco couldn't give us assurance that they would have sufficient stock of fresh birds, we decided to place an order with Westlynn Meats.

We picked the fresh 13# bird supplied by JD Farms up on Dec. 22 and cooked it Xmas day.

We noticed right away in unwrapping the turkey that part of one wing, my wife's favourite part, was missing. To us this suggested this was a utility bird, not the grade A bird we had paid a very high price for.

We cooked the stuffed bird at 350 for about 4 hours until it was nicely browned, to an internal temperature of about 170, and let it stand for 1/2 hour.
Using my regular carving knife which I always sharpen prior to carving, the meat in the breast was very difficult to cut evenly coming off in strings, not nice carved slices. The meat was tough and the breast meat had a greyish appearance. It was a most disappointing experience.

My mother went in to look at getting prime rib for Christmas. She said she was going to see if there where any sales closer to Christmas. The employee decided to make a snarky comment saying "well there is always mcdonalds." That was my family's first experience with this shot and thanks to that employee our last as well.

Great local butcher with a big selection of high quality products. Fresh Pacific halibut. Ribeye steaks. Sausages. Bacon. Get my Christmas turkey here every year and it never disappoints. The staff are knowledgeable and super friendly. Plus it feels good to support a local business!

Been shopping here for years and the fish and seafood are great. Really wish they wouldn't try and upsell me every single time though. It's hard enough being on a budget these days without being reminded of it - if I'm ordering a small amount of inexpensive fish then don't offer me bacon-wrapped scallops. Maybe save that for the folks buying halibut?
