It's one of the places in Fort McMurray that one would certainly like to stop by.

Personally, I like to visit the library once in a while.

The library boasts a wide range of facilities, including comfortable reading areas, study rooms, and a dedicated children's section. The collection is extensive, featuring books, e-books, audiobooks, and multimedia resources.

Additionally, the library provides access to computers, free Wi-Fi, and printing services, making it a convenient spot for both leisure and work.

WBRL hosts a variety of programs and events catering to different age groups and interests.

There's always something happening at the library.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with any inquiries or recommendations.

WBRL is more than just a place to borrow books—it's a hub of knowledge and community spirit.

I would certainly recommend 🙏

This is an incredible library with conventional and niche collections. Spent many weekend morning with my kids for programs and they always walked away with a stack of books. In the back of the upper section is a dense row of regional and strange topographical texts chronicling the fur trade and oil booms. The reading area has a panoramic view of the north and south of the river. Years ago when I lived in Fort Chipewyan, I ordered books through this branch and they shipped them up by plane. The medium is message.

I really enjoyed the library. It was one of my favourite places in Mac and also one of the reasons I had decided to move up here instead of living a commuter life.

Multiple times I have returned books only to have them marked as "unreturned/lost" by the staff. I always find them on the shelf when I go look myself and once they found one on their big "library sweep".

It is frustrating and unfair to be charged for books lost by staff. I have started to record videos and taking pics of me placing the books in the return slot but it is difficult to do unless I have someone with me to hold the camera. I have seen on Facebook that I am not the only one with this issue in town. It is causing people not to use the library or their services. I did email a manager but was told although they were sorry there was no way around and they won't change processes to fix this.

I love the library. It's awesome. They have tons of stuff for kids even during covid they were being innovative to still and try and be there for the community. They have everything from video games (ps5 included) to audiobooks to Blu rays. The children play area is really nice and they have trains and such at front desk for use.

The staff are all awesome and friendly.

The Wood Buffalo Regional Library is incredible. Movies, Games, Graphic Novels, and all the other amazing resources you would expect to find at the library.

I've saved thousands of dollars this year taking books, movies, and games out from the library instead of buying them.

I haven't even touched upon how incredible the programing can be, I've sewed, painted, and made plant bins this year. It has been a treat.

It was the first time I've left my house in months because medical issues.. I was excited to pick up a book and do something for myself for the first time in a long time unfortunately my reading level sits more at a teen level. Anyway I had my son on my shoulders for a while but I got tired and let him down on the couch, to rest my shoulders for a second. He wasn't being loud by any means I don't think he even made a peep. But he was playing quietly. A woman said that this was the teen area and I should try the toddler section. I had two books in my hand I was considering but I felt so ashamed that and anxious that these were my reading level options. I called after because I thought maybe there was a rule about no toddlers in adult or teen areas, and then maybe I wouldnt have to be so ashamed/embarrassed I got to talk to the lady who was the one who came up to us. But she said it was my son being a disruption by playing on the couch. He had been on it maybe a little over a minute and I was going to put him back on my shoulders and look at more options. Anyway I just grabbed the two books and left. I'm pretty embarrassed and regret going out. My father called me shortly after I got home to see how leaving the house went and I just started crying.

Staff was rude and wouldn't allow me to close the door to a meeting room I was studying in despite other people in adjacent meeting rooms doing the exact same thing. People were coming in and out of the room causing distractions as a result of this. I had to leave and find a different place to work independently and quietly. I am unsure as to why I was singled out (no signs or explanation as to why this room was different than the other meeting rooms).

Update: I looked at their website about the meeting rooms. Website states that there are 4 available meeting rooms. However, only 2 are free to use, the others you must book and pay for. Finally, there is a "quiet conversation lounge" that is a common space which I now realize they've labelled it "Meeting Room A". Overall, poor signage and labeling, had I known it was a common space I wouldn't have studied there! Why label it a meeting room if it is not a meeting room! This still does not explain rudeness from the staff either in a community space. Please label the rooms appropriately and in accordance to the website, it's not that hard!
